Title: N Scale DCC#20 on DC
Post by: FireGuy on January 23, 2016, 10:49:03 AM
Good morning, I recently bought a Bachman Spectrum N81854 GE-44-ton Switcher with DCC#20.  Have tried to test it on a DC-powered track and it does not run.  Does it need to be programmed for DC?  I read in one forum that new DCC products should run on DC systems, so I can't tell if it's a programming or product problem.  Thank you.

No , it should run fine on DC power . As they come from the factory , the decoder should sense either DC or DCC .  Do other locos run on the same track ?  If so it's probably a pick - up that got knocked loose during shipping . You could try taking the shell off to se if anything looks out of place .

If this is a previously owned locomotive then using a DCC system capable of programming user supplied CVs program an 8 to CV 8 to reset the decoder.
