Thanks for the site!.

Please Bachmann you have made engines for everyone else so why not take a look at these Aussie sugar cane engines because this is actually what we need in On30.

We don't need another large engine because most modelers now have had to down size and this would really fit the bill.

Just alter the disconnect cars you already have to a sugar cane car and we are ready!.

I guess nobody agrees with me and what a shame for the people that model true 30"gauge or 2ft gauge because this is a great industrial engine and the Aussies should be jumping up and down for this,I have always have had a soft spot for sugar cane trains.

Little engines on light track.

Bachmann if you ever consider making another engine please consider the Baldwin 0-4-2T Locomotive used by the Fairymead Sugar Co. LTD.these were small 24" gauge engines but will do fine in 30" for us.

See July/Aug Narrow gauge & Shortline Gazette drawing.

These engines ran in Queensland.

These engines are small and would go great with the 18ft freight cars or a industrial tram.

I wish Bachmann would place a 4 wheel suspension under it and that would make a NEAT caboose.

Any small type Porter,Baldwin would be a plus.something that we can bash and have fun with .leave off the extras!,the DCC and sound so the cost can stay down and let folks pay extra for it if they want it.

I seem to remember somewhere that the Bachmann HO 2-8-0 fits perfect under the On30 2-6-0 boiler. The 2-8-0 is larger and would probably reflect that.

Things I wished Bachmann had done:

1. Made the Bachmann Porter where the boiler could be removed as this would made sence for bashing projects.

2. Made a more American 4-4-0 instead of that OF 4-4-0 and the little 2 foot 4-4-0 or at least made a small Porter 2-6-0.

3.Made more generic freight cars or at least made them with more removable parts so the doors could be changed.

4. I think the Baldwin 2-8-0 C-16 would have made a better choice than the 4-6-0.

That's my complaints and Harold we love your work so keep it up.

Bob,I think you are correct. A lot of folks have begged for catalog type Porter locomotives like a small 2-6-0 and maybe a heaver 0-4-0 and I think one of those small Maine two foot tye Forneys would have done well. The 18ft freight cars are fantasic and I just hope they are not too little too late.
I just can't imagine that Bachmann sold very many articulated's and the 4-6-0 engines as they are just too large for many garage layouts.

Just my 5 cents worth

Also meant to add that the Yosimite Short Line in California had a 18' box car.
I think the cars are neat and probably are not the goal of any prototype.

Meant to add that the recent On30annual has two great articles on back dating the old Bachmann mogul and these cars would go great with those engines.

Since nobody else has responded I will try to give this a stab.

There was a article somewhere I think maybe in the Gazette and I cannot locate it but the cars are copied after the Billmeyer & Small freight cars from the 1870-1880's with the airbrakes added. The Denver & Rio Grande used short Billmeyer & Small cars and even started with some four wheel cars.

I got mine today!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D.  This is by far the best On30 annual yet and if you don't have one you need to get one before they are sold out.

Well done!
