Title: bachmann 2-8-4 union pacific n scale engine # 803

im have an opportunity to buy one of these locomotives,but the seller doesn't know the item # or whether the locomotive is dcc ready. is this enough information to tell me if the locomotive is dcc ready? thank you jim l

Look at the Product Listing for the loco.

I would pass if the seller does not know. He should have the documentation that came with the loco.
Many locos are sold that are DCC ready or DCC on board and many that are not DCC equipped or even ready for DCC.

Buyers beware.
Fill the brain before you empty the wallet.

First off, Bachmann does not, has not, produced a Berk (2-8-4) in N Scale US outline.
Both the Life-Like (Walthers) and Rivarossi (Rowa) are the only two I am aware of, and neither of which are DCC ready.

Spookshow is a good source of information, take a few minutes and have a look.
