Title: Maryand & Pennsylvania 2-8-0 #43
Post by: BaltoOhioRRfan on November 01, 2014, 04:50:07 PM
Welp, shes finally close enough done to post.

The 2-8-0 started out as a NYC that I got when the shop I worked at the time broke up a Spectrum train set,  I painted her up into a C&O 2-8-0

About 2 weeks ago I decided to turn her into Ma & Pa, and after the train show and getting parts I started on her,

And earlier today I decided to swap the tender out, and thats why in the pic below the tender is not been decaled yet(waiting on the gloss coat to dry) I changed the trucks as well.

And yes I already fixed the number on the smoke box.

So hows she look?

And this is a Bachmann Spectrum model,

I talked to The Bachman at Columbus, Ohio a year ago about this engine and it's sisters, as an add-on to the previous locos issued by Bachmann Trains. Could they rehash a 2-8-0 already issued? He talked of the wrong domes and the wrong cab, etc. But you have captured the spirit of the MA & PA loco very well! To that I will ask......are you taking orders? I thing it looks great! I have also asked another mfg of 2-8-0 small market locos, if they would consider making this loco. The brass ones are few and far between, over priced still and must be re-motored to be useful. Again, great job!

At this time no i wont be "taking orders". I had so much aggrivation with headlight move(and change to LED) I'm thinking about not chaning the position of my B&O 2-8-0s.

I've also e-mailed suggestions to Bachmann and makers of the Overland coaches about doing some Maryland & Pennsylvania coaches....never heard anything back(the other manufacture was asking for suggestions on up coming products), That said, i made my own coaches and have two more that i been thinking about what to do with...they are going to the Ma and Pa. I think I also sent a suggestion to Bachmann about doing some MPA stuff using their old time freight cars (Gondolas and Box Cars) again, never heard anything back so i donno if they went into the suggestion box or not.

Also, the newly made 2-6-0 by Bachmann could also be a close fill in for the one the MPA had, number of which slips my mind right now. It was a Baldwin 2-6-0. Thought about doing one as well.
