Title: Technical data of Bachmann locomotives
Post by: Goose on July 26, 2007, 07:38:51 AM
Good morning,

I'd like to design a multi-track diorama, but I'm a little worried abour technical data, specially power consumption, i. e. how many Amperes are needed to power my four N-scale locomotives (Plymouth switcher, DDA40X, GP40 and B23-7) correctly?.

Thanks in advance to everybody.

Referring to the DCC Made Easy power charts, an N scale engine takes up about .75 amps so 0.75*4=3 so if you are using DCC you *may* get away with it on a Zephyr system, but if it is Isolated DC loops, I'd recommend 1 power pack per engine. Any of the N-Scale wizards feel free to correct me though.

FWIW, the ammeter on my Powercab says 3 different Katos and a Bachmann 2-8-0 are all drawing less than .15 amp each.

Of course YMMV,
