On30 / on30 and 0 guage
March 03, 2008, 11:03:07 PM
Anyone have any pictures or a link to a 3 rail O guage set up next to a 2 rail on30 set up?

I have been wondering about mixing these 2 rail sizes to show a narrow guage rail next to a main line.

I am very very new to the hobby but from what I understand on30 is simply a narrow guage 1/48 scale engine or car. Am I missing anything? Thanks.

I got the Digital Commander starter set with the FT-A and GP40 Sante Fe engines. I had speed conrol for mabey the first minute with each engine and now I got almost nothing. Forward and reverse work. I can turn the lights on and off but starting --- poor, poor, poor. Stoping --- that is not happening. I need to kill power with the red stop button. Their is no fine tuning. There is mabey some throttle response but it is on its own time scale.

Both engines work when the track is switched back to DC and my DC engine works, though slightly slower and on a slight delay, when run on the DCC.

I tried disconnecting the capacitors in the FT-A but even then the issues persist.

So what is going on? What options do I have to fix these issues?

Thanks.

HO / Switching shells

Hi guys. I am new to this hobby, very new. Just got my first train at age 34. Still figuring things out.

My first train is a NFL series from hawthorne village I got off eBay. I love my team (they should of been in the playoffs) but anyway, I have noticed that the engine seems underpowered.

The F7A engine keeps uncoupling from the B unit. Usually on a turn sometimes on a grade. I have changed out couplers on both engines but the problems remains. I am starting to think that the engine just can not pull the 4 cars that are behind it. This is pure speculations by my part. I have noticed that only the back truck is powered from my disassembly and reassembly of F7A engine and dummy. Which probably explains why it seems to break traction (peel out) alot.

OK, so what options would you guys recommend for me next. I have been leaning towards getting powered A and B engines and swapping out shells with my NFL trains. What engines would have chassis that match the Bachmann F7A Hawthorne Village engines.

Also any other recommendations to keep my engine coupled?

Thanks.
