Rich, thanks for reply. Not home right now, but last night I tried again to get switching pilot onto pilot beam. What is it I don't get ? It won't land flush, remaining a smidge away from beam. That is, it will not snap securely onto beam. It wobbles and falls off.

Hi. How does the 'switching'-type pilot attach to the HO 'Modern 4-4-0' pilot beam ? The 2 cow catcher types don't look right to me and so will settle for the 'switching', pilot step-type. Problem: Do the 2 single pilot straps remain while still adding switching pilot, equaling 4 hangers in total ? And, 'switching' pilot will not snap into holes and so falls out... What am I missing here ?   .........Thanks, Mark

Hi. I now own this loco. It runs very smoothly and not even broken in yet. The detail and appointments are good as are the extra, alternative domes, trucks and pilot wheel types in box. Headlight is very strong too, but wish it was a tad less amber. I do not like the 2 cow catcher type pilots with it (one is on it). They ride too high above rail head (looks to be a 12" to 16" space). I tend to think these are from another discon loco issue such as the old 10 Wheeler but that this one's pilot beam is this much higher. The switching, stepped-type pilot is correct length, but its strap hangers will not snap into place in the mounting holes on beam, plus not sure if the existing single steps on each end are to remain along with insertion of the 2 switcher pilot straps. IE, should there be 2 strap hangers or 4 present on beam ? Do I need to add glue to pins ? Finally, if I can, can I add weight above rear drivers ? How ? Lead ? Where ?         Thanks, Mark

Nobody has ever been "blocked" or "removed" from the forum unless they make trouble intentionally - although some folks tend to ride the fence a lot.....
I believe you are Chuck via Rich's calling you this. Anyway, I completely acknowledge and respect your informing me as how Bachmann wishes it to be. I certainly don't think my being in a forum constitutes my having any real say in this. It was meant in concern for, not a criticism of ATB at all (I own 3 HO Bach/sound engines and various cars. BTW, your new tanks look great ! Love those old 40 footers and way Bmann's cars roll/coast ! Makes one want to build a hump yard !).. I will remain compliant to ATB's choices of how he wants his forum behave...All questions/suggestions concerning it now are complete on this day and time...
Thanks once again to all who chimed in,         Mark

TO ALL of my brethren in this thread, members, Administrators. Though I always do accept and respect everyone's replies to my threads/posts, please read my original thread starter. It is not about saying wrong or right within the Bachmann forum and still not be deleted, etc...  It's about possibly redirecting ATB's aim or use of,  if allowed or possible at all .. My head is not in a cloud. I just think out-of-the- box frequently. Why couldn't/shouldn't this be what ATB is for ? That's my thread's original topic and intent of the thread. No disturbance meant here. The fact that there very well are forums dedicated to all the facets of the hobby, why not then have this one the nuts and bolts Bachmann products alone ? See what I mean ?
But, as they used to say no that long ago: "It's all good !"  Yeah, right, tell that to all the victims of terrorism..!  Thanks again,   Mark

General Discussion / Personal Account Quest
May 19, 2014, 10:04:36 PM
Hi once again. What are the steps to be able to look at or edit my own account number (keep it/change/state of).I Tried several. No dice, account number not shown anywhere. I do have a number, but wish to make sure mine still matches Bachmann's . Thanks, Mark

Rich, not sure what your getting at about "other companies' products". If a  person writes/logs in asking a question about a Rivarossi (or unknown maker), brass, 2-8-2, B&O Camelback, Bachmann will immediately see this on their screen as " Not in BACH. files ". This person is then dropped from the forum until he/she does have a legit Bachmann product concern. They certainly can not log-in, for now at least, until they're referring to a real Bachmann item. No ?         Mark

Yes, all of my questions about Bachmann products have mostly been answered. I simply mean that, due to so many many MRRing forums out there I thought that having the ATBman site condensed into direct questions and answers regarding just their products could/would expedite the location(s) of the Q&As and perhaps even in alphabetical order of the item name. HO (category), steam, then, say Alco, Alco/sound 0-6-0, 0-8-0, 2-6-0,.... N, Pennsy F8 , etc.. so that we can immediately find Qs & As about each one, real fast. This still would be created of yours, mine and Bachmann's suggestions, insights, stats, of a particular engine, car, control/tech or structure. Then, the more exotic, creative, things about model, layouts, scenery and real trains would still be over in the myriad of MRR forums out there.  No biggy. Just an idea which has crossed my mind now and then. Makes no difference in the end I suppose. ....M

Hi, I brought up a similar issue a while back:
When I first registered with "ATB", I sort of expected it to be a place to ask direct questions about a Bachmann item or items such as : "Does the HO 2-8-0 come with blind drivers ?" Or, "Can I obtain an older,non-posted part for my N scale Shark Nose, Monon.....?" And then the Bach Man merely replies to these questions... For me, personally I wish it where that way...There are tons of MRRing forums (of which I belong to three, with ATB) where the larger bodied chats and How Tos  are taken up, wheathering techniques, Can your Challenger be made into a Cab Forw........... ? But ATB seems to have to turned into this type forum, making it that more inundated with  all sides of the hobby at once.. I may be as guilty as some of you. But only because it seems to have totally changed into a forum. Can, should this be remedied ? I, well-meaning, would like it to be the nuts and bolts type of site. What do you think ?

Appreciated. But due to work situation I wake up on west coast, too late to call them. S'pose I can get up early once. If I simply ignore what has been initiated will it merely delete itself ( go off BMann records ). I have decided now to do send in one loco instead of both. Can I just 'white-out' the item No. on package shipping form "to/from" sheet of the loco not in packing now and continue with rest of arrangement ( if the 7 day rule has not been exceeded yet)?    Thanks again. General Discussion / Canceling a repair order ?
May 10, 2014, 06:05:14 PM
Hi. I filled a repair order for 2 engines. They now have a tracking number. I may want to cancel this for the moment. They haven't been shipped yet. How might I do this ? Merely let the  (is it ?) due within 7 day rule pass by ? Mark

General Discussion / Shipping broken loco Quest
May 06, 2014, 09:49:24 PM
OK. I filled the repair order forms for my 2 HO steam. As advised to, I used a different road name to list the item number for the Connie, as mine, a C&O, is not shown in Bach catalog. Question: In repair-order forms (one for each loco) there is no place to state the one or several problems items do have (unless I should have done that in the "Have you modified your product ?" box.) So, I suppose I'll just include a list in the box I ship locos in.. Yes ?   Mark

Ha ha ha to jbrock ! But you aren't that far off ... After I started thread I had to unpack loco anyway. So, Connie is a C&O. And, ironically, the road name I DO want after all, as my RR is loosely based on L&N's Hagans switchback. C&O is ideal for interchanging with.. Go figure !   Thanks for replies....Mark
