General Discussion / Re: Bachmann Engines
April 03, 2021, 01:59:29 PM
The repair guy that called me, was adamant, that Bachmann Trains, only run with Bachmann DCC or Bachmann DC power units. Was also told, that if we ran the engine on anything other then Bachmann systems, that the warranty would be voided....

General Discussion / Bachmann Engines

Out of curiosity, when did Bachmann Engines, become Non-NMRA compliant. We sent in a 4-6-0 steam engine to be repaired. Out of the box, it did not run at all. Drivers were locked up. Could feel the motor humming.

We received a notification, that the engines was fixed, found nothing wrong. Was asked, what were we using for power or DCC system. We use an MRC9950, and a Digitrax DB150 for our DCC system here in the store.

We were told that Bachmann does not guarantee, that their engines will perform on DC or DCC from another manufacturer. Only guarantee it will run with one of thei own systems.

In the past, this has never been an issue, with any Bachmann DCC or DCC/Sound engine, that we have had herein the store.

Has something changed?

Please advise, and Thank You

General Discussion / Re: Lead Warning on Set #00825
November 18, 2015, 10:08:47 AM
Thank you for the reply from Bachmann.

The specific part of the warning that was of concern was the following language.

"May generate dust containing lead."

The question was raised because a woman with young children returned a Bachmann train set because of that warning.  Where would lead dust come from, or is this an example of legal boiler plate wording that over states the case?  We need to be able to give honest and informed answers to customers when or if the question arises again.

Thank you.

Thank you for the clarification on that.  It helps to know what is driving the warning to be there.

General Discussion / Lead Warning on Set #00825

Just wondering what exactly this warning pertains to...

"Warning:  Contains lead.  Maybe harmful if eaten or chewed.  May generate dust containing lead.  Keep out of the reach of children."

We are not certain as to what part of this train is lead, and how, in the course of running it, will it create lead dust?

The set was returned to us due to this warning.

Thank you,
Cheryl
