Title: DCC / Sound 4-6-0 wont run on DC
Post by: timhar47 on December 18, 2013, 09:21:05 PM
I give up with 'search' - doesnt seem to work with me, I know this issue is probably on here somewhere.

I have a DCC/Sound 4-6-0 that works fine in DCC, but when I try to test it on DC (I sold my DCC system) it makes no sound, and the lights click on & off. What Up?

I hope it didnt get messed up.

The analog pack is an TECH II 2400

Thanks

For one thing. turn off the pulse power. I think this power pack has pulse power which the decoder does not like.
I wonder if the DC option was turned off when operated on DCC?

The DC power pack has to be turned up higher than when you run a DC only loco.
No idea on what you know about dual mode decoders.

Thanks - yep the pulse was off, never use that anyway anymore. I guess it may be possible the option was turned off. Will have to see if I can take it somewhere to double check. Thanks

Today I just got the 2-6-0 Bachmann engine with DCC sound. According to the documentation, when operating on DC, the decoder will do nothing until it receives a minimum of 5V.

Logic circuits require at least 5 VDC just to wake up. Maybe a couple more volts for the loco to begin moving.

Also you might check to see that CV29 has been enabled to run on DC. This feature can be switched off to only run DCC if that is what you have.
