General Discussion / electrical
April 08, 2020, 03:46:47 PM
Is there a limit to the number of street lights (rated at 12V DC) that can be run on one 22 AWG main run ?

The main power supply I am using is of the variable type with a maximum output of 17.2 V DC, 19.2 VA.

Reason I am asking is that I had 13 lights connected and one of them had its 24 AWG feeder wires burn up.

Am I doing something wrong ?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

General Discussion / spot lights and dc
March 06, 2020, 01:27:30 PM
I have miniatronics rail yard spot lights whose instructions say to connect the cable with the diode to the positive connection of the DC output of a transformer .

The power source I am using is the MRC Railpower 1300 that has both DC and AC output terminals. But the DC are not marked positive or negative.

How would I know which is the positive terminal of the DC output on the MRC 1300 in order to follow the Spot light instructions?

General Discussion / diodes and resistors
February 10, 2020, 08:36:44 PM
I have a Miniatronics Rail Yard Spot Light 72-118-01. It has a diode and a resistor.

Being new to this hobby, could someone please tell me how to distinguish between  the diode and the resistor on this Spot Light ? One is of a brown color, the other is bluish.

thanks,
Jamsheed

General Discussion / Gap
December 14, 2019, 08:42:03 PM
I heard somewhere that it is OK to leave gaps between sections (HO Scale) to allow for potential expansion.

How much gap should there be for HO Scale track ? Maximum/Minimum ??

Any easy way to measure this ?

Thanks.

General Discussion / DCC power
November 21, 2016, 07:41:20 PM
All below related to DCC operations.
How do you get power for DCC operations to EZ track ?
How do you determine how much power you need to overcome voltage drop on EZ Track ?
If you need more power due to voltage drop, how do you provide it on EZ Track ?

General Discussion / connections

I have some experience with HO EZ  Track, but no experience with Flextrack.
Does the flextrack come in different heights and if so which one would I use for HO and how would I adjust to match with the HO EZ Track ?
Any issues with heights of the two different  tracks ?
What are the connectors to use between sections of the flextrack and between the flextrack and the EZ Track ?
how do you connect Bachmann HO EZ Track to Bachmann Flextrack ?
How do you cut the Flextrack for different lengths ?
Anything else to be aware of ?

Thanks.

could you please advise as to the difference between these two types of EZ tracks. I have the "normal" ones. When would one type be used over the other ?
