HO / Re: decapod

Does anyone have an idea of if or when Bachmann might release a decapod with dcc and sound?   Thanks for the help.
They already did release one, I bought one almost 15 years ago if I recall correctly. It had a full Tsunami sound decoder, sound value didn't exist until recently.

Bachmann does have a Repair and Replacement option. You could cal the service department. You want to make sure they replace with the same type of loco if they have one.
He could potentially get a replacement locomotive but it won't be a new N&W J, it more than likely will be a selection of some of the more cost effective locomotives. Most likely an analog DC diesel or trolley.
The new J with sound is much too expensive, compared to the cost of the old J he bought used, so it wouldn't really be an even swap.

If I remember right the Bachmann Catalogue does give minimum radius curves for each locomotive.  Since in a given scale a locomotive is a locomotive it should work on the other brands of the same locomotive.
This is generally not the case as often some manufacturers alter their locomotives to run on tighter radius curves, such as the Bachmann 4-8-4 N&W J class which has a ton of "play" (side to side) to allow it to make sharper curves than any other manufacturer's model of the J can negotiate.

HO / Re: Adding sound to DCC equipped Locomotives

Can sound be added to the locomotives in the Digital Commander Starter set.  They are:
DCC-equipped EMD GP40 locomotive with operating headlight
DCC-equipped EMD FT-A locomotive with operating headlight
If so,  how is it done?  I'm a DCC newbie.
Yes it can be done, but I would not advise attempting if you are a novice. After you are more experienced it may be something you may want to pursue at a later time.
If you want a GP-40 or FT-A with sound then it would be easier and cheaper to just buy locomotives that come with factory installed sound.

E-Z App / Re: Replacement bodies

They would likely require varying levels of modification including possibly milling the frame. They would not be able to swap without modification unfortunately.

While I am not 100 percent sure, I would think that any newer shell from a DCC equipped locomotive of the same type should work.
So any DCC equipped GP-35 and DCC equipped RS-3 should work for the swap.

E-Z App / Re: E_Z App with Spectrum

Hi, i'm very new to all this, so bear with me for some Q&A's
1. I have a on3o Spectrum DCC ready Whitcomb 50 ton Diesel & a American outside frame steam loco on30 DCC. will these have
   DCC fitted. Model NO: # 29204 & 28321
2. My twin track is around 35m long on each track & goes through 2 rooms. Now i know my bluetooth headphones can break up
when i go into the other room, so i assume this might happen as well with the E_Z app? Could i use a bluetooth
   repeater/extender.

Hi, just to add to the above post. If the above trains dont have bluetooth? do Bachmann's do a bluetooth converter for their other trains?
Hello,
Bachmann offers the following HO scale locomotives with E-Z App installed
FT-A with Lackawanna, NYC, AT&SF, Southern, & WP liveries
RS-3 with B&M, NYNH&H, PRR, DRG&W, & AT&SF liveries
GP-35 with BNSF, CN, GN, PRR, & DRG&W liveries
Alco 2-6-0 Mogul with AT&SF, L&N, NYC, PRR & UP liveries
F7-A with special Boy Scouts of America livery

They also offer 3 HO scale train sets with E-Z App locomotives, that include one of the locomotives listed above.

Bachmann does not sell E-Z App products for any other scales.

The Whitcomb 50 ton diesel and the outside frame steam locomotive do not have E-Z App functionality. The former does not have a DCC decoder installed and the later may or may not have one depending on the specific model you have.
Bachmann does not sell any separate sale E-Z App products. You may want to contact the company patterning with Bachmann for more information concerning your specific needs (Blue Rail). However, Bachmann will be unable to assist you at this time, but keep your eye out for future product offerings that may interest you.

If it is a B23-7 then any Bachmann B23-7 will do, but as mentioned above they are out of production, so no new models are available obviously.
If it is a GP-40, you will need to buy an older GP-40 as it will not fit unmodified on a new model, or you can make the necessary modification to make it work on a newer model.

The most popular scale in Great Britain/United Kingdom not just in "England".  There is a difference.
England in a country and does not include Scotland, Northern Ireland and  Wales.
I am not familiar with what they do in Scotland, Wales and Ireland so I simply said England as I don't know what the rest of the UK does.

That's not to say they didn't exist as a fluke. Stranger things have happened when a railroad is in transition.
So perhaps the units in my photo were renumbered, and then after the fact they decided to use numbers in the 600 series after some were already renumbered and then at the next opportunity changed the numbers?
So then the question would be if these two units are at least 980 and 981, then does that mean for a short period of time some units were numbered 976-979?

Looking through several on-line rosters, I can comfortably state that Amtrak E60 units' numbers ended at 975. Amtrak did have two locomotives in the 990 series (X995 & X996) which were foreign units on loan for testing ahead of the AEM7 design
I have seen those, those are neat units but those are not the ones in the photo.
If it helps the date on the photo is 1992.

Quote from: oldline2 on August 17, 2018, 01:04:17 PMI'd hate to ahve to change out any decoders, etc but whatever.
Bachmann UK's products are all NMRA compliant as far as I know, but a major manufacturer of OO (Hornby) is often not NMRA compliant.
Sorry if I misled you.

PB still isn't free for Third Party Hosting. Go read their terms of service.
I have no idea what their terms of service says, but the photo I posted above is directly from photobucket, and formerly would not display and now does.

It is not a bad idea in theory but it is not very practical and would be too hard, too expensive and too inconvenient to implement for a plethora of reasons.
