Title: Re-numbering B'mann rolling stock
Post by: armorsmith on September 23, 2008, 11:43:01 PM
Is there any suggested method for removing the lettering on Bachmann rolling stock for re-numbering?  I recently purchased a group of Big Hauler stock and would like to change some numbers, without damage to the original surface (if that is possible).

Thanks for you help.

Dear Bob,
I use Chameleon paint remover, or, if I can't find that, a product called Oops! which is carried by my local paint store.
Slow and careful!
Have fun!

I've had good luck with a degreaser called "Super Clean." Typically I immerse the parts in the stuff for around 15 minutes, but one fellow just sat the car on its side, saturated some cotton balls with the stuff, and let them sit. The cotton kept the stuff only where needed, and the lettering came right off.

Look for it in your local auto parts store or Wal-Mart, etc.

Later,

I use Opps (?) which is a latex paint remover that you can find at move hardware or big box stores. Works great. Drip some on and leave it fora minute. the letter float right off.

Thank you all for your responses.  I have heard of the Oops product, but not the others.  I will look for all three and go from there.
