Does Bachmann plan a re-release of the inside frame Forney and 2 truck Shay in ON30 anytime soon?

Thanks,
Walt

This may be a common question, but here goes ...... Is Bachmann going to make the shay available again?

A great idea - I would start with at least two kits and probably order many more over time.

As prices rise and incomes decline,  lower cost kits will inevitably be a welcome alternative. The reduced labor cost of assembly would be passed on to the buyer and Bachmann could still maintain their profit level, a win-win. So this might be the perfect time to start a line of On30 kits.

On30 / DCC AND DC operation
January 02, 2013, 01:36:45 AM
Can a DCC equipped engine running properly on DCC be allowed to run onto a DC powered track? I know that Bachmann decoders are dual mode (DCC or DC) so it seems as though it should work.

I ask because I'd like to try out some automation ideas. One of them would have a train (DCC equipped)  run into a siding under DCC control. At some point a sensor would be triggered that would cause the track power on the siding to be switched from DCC to DC. The DC voltage level could be set at a level approximately matching the the loco's speed or it could be set at zero, depending on which would allow this scheme to work.

Thanks,
Walt

On30 / Freight car trucks
August 18, 2009, 03:56:43 PM
Which kind of truck is supplied on new On30 freight cars? I thought I read that the 4'-1" low frame truck was going to be the new standard, true?

Thanks,

If you've determined that is not a short, then try this: When the engine stalls, gently push down on all the corners of the engine to see if you can detect a pickup point that is losing contact with the rail. I have a similar problem on one #6 turnout and found that one of the driver wheels on my 2-6-0 and 2-8-0 is lifting off the rail. When I push down on the engine I can feel the corner go down slightly and the engine then starts up.

Try it, who knows, it might work.

Dusten,

There's a good chance that the wipers are not contacting the wheels. Does this occur randomly only at one spot. The mogul is sensitive to uneven track. Mine sometimes gets hung up on the frog of some turnouts (that means that not all the wheels are bringing in power. And as someone else has suggested, you must be willing to tinker a bit.

Good luck,

Walt
