I KNOW VERY LITTLE IF ANYTHING ABOUT DCC. I AM WONDERING IF ONE OF THE NEWER BACHMANN ENGINES MARKED AS DCC WILL RUN ON A DC LAYOUT AS WELL?
Most likely. I've run DCC trains on DC before I switched to DCC.
Alex
It depends on the decoder. Most of the older ones did not allow DC, from what I understand. The decoder installed in Bachmann and BLI, for example, can tell if the power is DC or DCC and respond accordingly.

Bachmann says that its DCC locos are 100% compatible with DC layouts, though I have not tried it myself. What does not work is DC locos on DCC layouts.
Dear Vern,
They'll run on DC right out of the box.
Have fun!

Ninnypooper, a DC locomotive can be run on DCC using address 1. However, it is not good to let it stand still on a powered track. If you are going to stop it, you need to stop it on a track that can be unpowered.
Gene
Gene,
Slight correction........analog engines, ones without decoders, run on address 0.
Bob,
You are correct. Big difference between 1 and 0!
Gene
SteamGene,
I have the Bachmann DCC system and analog is button 10. I tried it with Several analog locos and it does not work. but I would not want to have to worry about the motor overheating anyway.
