Hi all,
So I recently acquired a old pre dcc bachman g scale American 4-4-0 locomotive( Denver model) and tender. I'm dropping in a blunami board I have and came across some questions.
1- the train didn't have a ground connection wire at all and The blunami board does. So, do i need to make one? If so can I attach a wire from the dcc board to a metal nut and glue that to the plastic frame inside the train?
2- I believe the original wiring is 22 or 24 gauge right? I'm going to have to replace some of it for the blunami board.
3- I think front light is a led. A 1k resistor should probably work fine right?
4- does the smoke unit need a resistor too?
Any tips and advice is appreciated.
1 no ground needed, just available off the decoder board
2 wire gauge will be fine, it does not draw a lot of current
3 resistor is calculated by the supply voltage in the normal way
4 on the 4-4-0, I think the smoke unit is wired from the track, i.e. it is NOT a logic output, so you will need perhaps a relay operated by a function output on the Blunami. I do not have a schematic of the 4-4-0.

I think the 4-4-0 is of the era where Bachmann has all the resistors on the PCB, so it won't have one on the LED itself. If you are reconnecting it to your Blunami, a 1K would be appropriate.
The 4-4-0 DCC and DC wiring diagrams are on the Bachmann website.
