Large / Step by Step Instructions headlight
February 24, 2012, 09:53:09 PM
Hi all, I am looking for some step by step instructions on changing my 4-6-0 headlight. I searched the forum and did not see anything.  I also found out that my light in the tender is missing (unsure if it even comes with one). So if anyone knows where some instructions are please let me know. I am guessing the red is hot and the white is ground.  Who sells 1 tiny little LED light?  Also am I gonna need to solder a new light to the wires? Thanks, Steve

Hunt, thanks for the tip on CLR to clean my rail joiners.  It just ate the corrosion away.  Did not even have to use my brush.         ;D

Corrosion  at the rail joiners. Yes there is some corrosion there. I go to take the joiner off and it does not want to come off.  Should I force it or is there a release that I am not seeing?

Large / Track Power Loss
January 11, 2012, 06:21:42 PM
I am starting to build my first Garden Railway. Just for fun I decided to hook up my 4-6-0. I have noticed I am losing power on certain areas of the track (I only have about 20 feet of straight "USED LBG" connected).
The top of the rails I have cleaned. Is that where the locomotive gets its power? The inside of the rail is dirty and it looks like a dark film over the inside of the rail.  How can I get to that part of the rail to clean it.  Is there anything else that could cause a power loss. I really do not want to soder wire from rail to rail but I will if I have to.  Any input will be appreciated.  S&S

Large / Train Layout
December 09, 2011, 04:15:58 PM
Sorry I have been asking so many questions, but I need help again.
I am starting a garden train
To see the layout go here:    http://www.flickr.com/photos/59688606@N03/6483354225/

1)  Does Piko fit Aristo and USA track? I know with Lionel G you have to make it work but I am not using Lionel.

2)  Given my layout size, how much power do I need to use?  Right now I have the standard Big Hauler transformer.

3)  What grade or decent and ascent can my Big Hauler 4-6-0 handle?  Needs to have a section underground in front of shed door.
    ???
Response:  Thinker, that would mean I have to start my descent as soon as I make that turn around the back of my shed correct? I may have shoot out further distance  when I come around the front of the shed.

Is it possible to run my Bachmann Big Hauler on Lionel G scale track?  What are the differences between the two?

Large / Another Owners Manual question
November 20, 2011, 09:50:00 PM
--Hi all, while I am not new to model railroading I have recently aquired a G scale
Bachmann Big Hauler train set through a death in the family. I believe it is a standard 45mm track, yellow/black steam locomotive and same color tender. It is in excellent condition however I noticed the headlight does not work and there appears to be a battery compartment in the tender accessible from the top. The box says it is sound capable, however I see nothing that would produce sound.
--So I am looking for the owners/user manual.  ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Also wondering if any of these Bachamnn locomotives are weather resistant?  Actually it looks exactly like the Durango & Silverton set by Bachmann
