Post by: Cody J on July 24, 2009, 04:01:44 PM
Does anyone know when the Wheeling & Lake Erie and the Kansas City Southern SD40-2s are coming out?

Thanks,
Cody

Please, when are these units due to hit stores? Also, what paint scheme will the W&LE unit be painted in?
Thanks

Dear Cody and Ed,
They're expected in October, and the Wheeling unit is in the orange with black Rio Grande style lettering.
Have fun!

I'm looking forward to the new W&LE, I got one preordered, I don't think it has DCC though. So far I have the 2 athearn GP-35s and put dcc in them, I don't think the gearing will match though.. oh well

with dcc it really doesn't matter if the gearings match. you can program the faster loco to run with the same speed curve as the slower one. i have successfully gotten a unit with a 12:1 gear ratio to run with one with a 32:1 gear ratio.

Well my two recent Athearn units have dcc and run well together dcc or not, I know that as they are identical except for the shells have diff schemes.  I just thought that the new Bachmann release was dc since it didn't say dcc anywhere.  As my dcc equipping skills are if it has an 8 or 9 pin plug (is DCC ready), I'll do it, but I'm not going to hard wire any locos.  So I was assuming it was conventional DC and not "DCC ready", which would be problematic because I'd have to operate in DC mode on good ole #10 (which may ruin the engine eventually) or a regular transformer.
Here's what is listed on the site so far about the loco:
