Was the overland 4-8-4 ever sold apart from the set, or was it always with the set the overland?
Thanks,
Mark
Dear Hoople,
The Overland originally came with a Santa Fe 4-8-4, but, when the original mold failed, the locomotive became a sort of genericized Northern. This version was never sold outside the set that I recall.
Have fun!

Hoople, do you have an Overland 4-8-4? Stephen
No... Why?
at one time it was sold apart from the set in a large box with info about the overlander limited.
Do you have any evidence of that?
I mean The Bach-man said he didn't recall that it ever was.
It looks like it did come separately....Here is an Overland 4-8-4 on Ebay right now...

Re: Overland 484-- The picture of the 4-8-4 in msowsuns message is of the ATSF 4-8-4 Northern that came with the earlier set of the Overland Limited( cloned by Bachmann from their ATSF Northern for a half dozen other RRs) and was replaced by a 4-8-4 Niagara which is available in the new Overland Limited trainset. The origin of the Niagara is unknown since it is also not a direct copy of Up's original # 806 but does resemble it more closely than the Northern. --Carbud
