Many thanks for the reminder that our hobby is, indeed, worldwide. Best to you and the rest of your fellow modelers in New Zealand, Australia and around the world.

Thanks for the easy-to-follow instructions on changing out the end portion of my Observation car. Your step-by-step method is outstanding. I thank you again!

Just an observation, but, isn't this a great hobby that has so many nice, helpful and friendly people who don't mind taking a moment to give advice, offer a suggestion or exchange info?

It's really a pleasure to be a part of such a great group of people!

LurchBird...

I actually called AND e-mailed Bachmann with my request. I got a callback from Jennifer who is listed on their website as a parts consultant, I believe. She knew exactly the part(s) I needed, quoted a price, took my billing info and everything was done.

I didn't see those parts on the "parts ordering" on the website, either. I guess it just pays to talk with them personally in case they have those parts on-hand.

Thanks for the comeback...

I got a callback from Jennifer at Bachmann. She is sending me the assembly I need to replace the end railing/brake wheel on my PRR Observation car and, yes, it is "gold".

Actually, there are two parts in the package for both ends of the car and the price was a reasonable 11 bucks, which included shipping/handling. Not bad.

Now, if I can just see where that part "snaps" on and off, I'm golden. :-)

Thanks, again, for your kind assistance...

Wow...thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. That sounds like a very easy fix. I'll have to find a car to "sacrifice" that end-beam assembly to add onto my Observation car.

I really appreciate your feedback and input...

On30 / Repairing An Observation Car

I recently bought a Bachmann/Spectrum PRR Observation car on eBay to complete my set of cars from that set. Unfortunately, in transit to me, the gold railing broke off completely. This isn't the drumhead end of the observation car railing but the railing at the other end of the car...the simple gold "toothpick" railing.

My question is: does anyone know how much Bachmann might charge to replace that railing and has anyone ever needed to have that done? I have no idea whether I can/should do it as I have no idea what parts might be needed.

I'd try to find another car with an intact railing, but, as many of you know, the Bachmann PRR set's Observation car is scarcer than anything to find as a single car...especially in new condition.

Thanks, guys...

On30 / Re: Question On Passenger Cars

Manager...

Many thanks for the reply. I have wondered if Bachmann ever made the cars I'm looking for and now, thanks to you, I believe I have my answer(s).

Looks like they did not make a baggage car for the B&O "Royal Blue" set in On30, so, my set will be incomplete as far as that car is concerned. Oh, well.

As for the PRR coaches in On30, I can't find any other coaches besides #15 either; perhaps there is a different number or two, but, I can't seem to find one either. I'm still going to keep my eyes open for either cars, but, I'm not very hopeful that they even exist.

Thanks to you and el loco for taking the time to answer my questions.

Best to you both...

Thanks, el loco...

Yeah, I just about haunt eBay every day looking for those. As for train shows and swap meets, I attend as many as I can, but, so far, no luck.

Thanks for the suggestions, though; they're much appreciated.

On30 / Question On Passenger Cars
February 02, 2010, 05:58:38 PM
Hello...

I've become a collector of several Bachmann On30 trainsets and believe that there are more and different cars out there to add to the sets I already have. Unfortunately, several of the sets I have are no longer in production, therefore, finding those additional cars is proving to be elusive, if not downright frustrating. I need your help...please!

Did Bachmann ever make the following:

A "Royal Blue" B&O baggage car? I have the coach, observation car and combine; need the baggage car, if it exists.

A "Royal Blue" B&O coach in any other number besides 1059? There are at least three different numbered coaches in the D&RGW set, so, are there more in the "Royal Blue" B&O set besides #1059?

A PRR coach in any other numbers besides #15?

If those exist, can anyone direct me to where I might buy one or more in brand new condition?

Many thanks for answering my questions and/or directing me to where I might buy one or more.

On30 / PRICING VARIATIONS
January 04, 2010, 12:18:56 PM
In searching for more Bachmann sets, rolling stock and engines, I find the prices are all over the place! Bachmann's prices from the factory are, well, high. eBay is another source, but, prices/condition vary widely there, as well.

I have found a dealer who sells the Bachmann complete sets...brand new in the box...for about half of what Bachmann lists theirs for on this website.

Is there that much markup that this dealer can sell these for half Bachmann's MSRP and still make a profit? Not that I'm complaining, but, wow...quite a difference in pricing!

On30 / BAC 2289925004 SET Royal Blue B&O On30
December 14, 2009, 01:52:33 PM
Hi...

I bought a brand new Royal Blue passenger coach on eBay in On30 that is marked "New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore & Washington" on the side and has the serial number BAC2289926312 on the Spectrum box and I love it!

Now, I'm trying to assemble the entire set, which, I assume, has another passenger coach, combine car, baggage car and matching locomotive and coal tender. Problem is...I can't find any other cars to complete my set.

It appears to be the Royal Blue B&O set, of which my lone passenger coach is one piece. Can anyone help me find the rest of the set...preferably new..or tell me more about it? I did find online a reference to a Royal Blue B&O set in On30 size numbered BAC 2289925004. Is this the correct number for that set?

Many thanks...
