Title: Couplings
Post by: craigs on February 21, 2010, 05:16:32 PM
Does anyone know what kind of couplings the BACHMANN N SCALE 2-6-2 PRAIRIE B & O TRAIN 51562 comes with?
Thanks Craigs

If it is fairly new it will come with MT compatible knuckle couplers with a spare set of rapido couplers. But if it was made within this year it comes with MT compatible couplers with no spares.

If it is one of the most recent production batches, it should have dummy knuckles. Older versions will have Rapidos. The working knuckles are starting to show up in new releases (44T) but that is all I have seen them on so far.

I am new to N scale and I am running into 2 types of couplings on new engines I have bought. One looks like a square "C" and the other only looks like a boxing glove. Which is which and which is the newer type? Thanks! Craig

The square "C" is the Rapido type and is rapidly disappearing from new releases in favor of the more prototypical knuckle ("boxing glove") coupler.
