Title: Spectrum PRR prewar K-4
Post by: cruiser7629 on January 14, 2021, 12:28:46 AM
I have a Spectrum PRR K-4 pacific. It's an old one, purchased in 1994. Can somebody tell me how to lubricate it? I am trying to figure out how to put lubricant on the gears to quiet it down, but I can't see how to disassemble it to access the gears. Some detailed instructions would be appreciated.

Thanks

The engine is a split frame. This link will show you how to open up the loco.

Edit. Below should be the diagram for your loco. Watch for ALL parts. I have done a split chassis loco.

Amazon sells a kit of Labelle grease and oil which I have used.

Half the gear noise may be from old dried lubricant.  Clean it all off with a wooden toothpick first.
