Title: How to diagnose DCC problem
Post by: walts on October 12, 2016, 04:40:19 PM
I have a Bachmann N scale 2-6-0 locomotive which is DCC equipped.  I have been running it on DC for several months, and recently tried it on DCC. It worked intermittently at first, and now won't run on either DCC or DC.  I tried resetting by writing 8 to CV 8 but that has done nothing.

Is there a procedure to diagnose or manually reset the DCC controller, or must I buy a new one to find out if this one is ruined?

Walt,
What DCC controller are you using?

Actually, I meant to ask about diagnosing the decoder, not the controller.

I'm using a DCC++ Arduino based controller.  I finally sent the loco back to Bachmann, since it has a loose traction tire that needed fixing anyway.

Thanks for replying :)
