General Discussion / Freedom Train
January 29, 2009, 10:42:08 PM
Dear Gentlemen

Does anyone know anything about the Freedom Train?  I rememeber standing in line for hours with Grandpa to see the train in Columbus OHIO back in 76'.  The only thing I remember is that I was mad that I couldn't see inside the steam locomotive.

-A.  What happened to the REAL 'Freedom Train'?

-B. Does anyone know the combination of cars that made up the consist ?

-C. What was in the Freedom Train?

Very Respectfully

Dear Mr. Bachmann

Is this the year for an East Coast Mikado such as an example from EBT?

Large / Different Pistons
February 18, 2008, 12:44:03 AM
I would like to thank Bachmann for producing a large scale K-27 'Mudhen' at an affordable price with such detail.  Guys, I can't help it, I am going to ask about this one.  Has anyone attempted to rebuiled the pistons?

I was looking at pictures of Mudhens from #450 being delivered to Huckleberry Farm #454.  I was particularly looking at #461 when she was traded to The Rio Grande Southern.  She still had inside valve gears.  So the piston is one above another not the above cocked to the outside.

Has anyone been BOLD enough to build a piston for an inside running gear?  OR!, does anyone have an idea how to 'kitbash' one of these Mudhens to inside running gear.  Like maybe using pistons from another manufacturer?

Guys, this is really going to be fun as we get the 'bug' to modify the K-27.  I would not only like to thank Bachmann, I would also like to thank all of you who participate in this forum.   So please, give yourselves a pat on the back and please keep submitting your questions, comments, and concerns.

Greetings fellow 'Train-a-holics'

First I would like to say hello to everyone.  I have enjoyed the past two(2) months reading the conversation at this site.  Secound I would like to Thank Mr. Bachmann for producing the 'Mudhen'.

Now my question, do any of you Gentlemen out there have plans for D&RGW rolling stock?

I seem to have misplaced my binder of plans that have been printed in various Model Railroading periodicles over the years.  Over the years I have collected plans and have built a few models from the plans.  I was hoping to find plans published a few years ago for the D&RGW 'Shorty' caboose.  I also am interested in some of the non-revenue rolling stock, such as Rotary plow OY, flanger OM, and Jordan Spreader OP.

Mr. Bachmann, Thank You once again for releasing an affordable model of a K-27.  Fellow train-a-holics thank you for the livley reading.  Br. Bachmann, it sounds like you have won a loyal following and we look forward to more releases from you in the future.
