Here is a short video of a battery/radio conversion I did on one of my 4-6-0s. It is my sixth conversion. I used a Crest Revolution receiver and NiMH batteries with everything in the tender.

Very nice sound system, what is your system
Dennis
Hello Dennis,
The sound system is part of the Crest Revolution receiver board. They make a generic steam board and a generic diesel board.
Yes, very nice indeed. I am about to try that conversion as well. I am curious what battery you used and also why you used NIMH rather than Lithium. I'm thinking Lipos are generally smaller. I don't remember if Crest has a low voltage cut-off, but you can buy Li-ion battery packs that have PCB protection. I am planning on using a 3S Li-ion which is rated at 11.1 volts. I would love to see a photo or schematic of your conversion. Thanks.
Craig
Thanks for the kind words.
These are the batteries I used...http://www.all-battery.com/96v2000mahnimhhighcapacitybatterypackforrccarrobotssecurity.aspx
I used two of them in series.
I have 5 other NiMH powered locos and they can all use the same charger.
Secondly, NiMH batteries are less expensive than Li-ion batteries. They give me good run times and are not that big. I even was able to use some different sized NiMH batteries in a Bachmann Davenport. That was a real challenge to get enough batteries in it to power the Crest Rx. I did mange to get in two 4.8 v packs and four AA batteries all in series to get 13.6 volts. ;)
OK. Thanks.
