Large / Bachmann anniversary 4-6-0
August 08, 2014, 11:08:03 AM
The pilot truck on my 4-6-0 is broken. This is the older version slot type. I have the replacement now and am trying to figure out how to get it apart to remove broken truck and install new one. Expected it would just be a matter of removing front part of bottom chassis but on careful exam doesn't seem to be the case. Have looked at exploded parts diagrams but aren't helping. Can someone out there who has experience with this please help. THs

Large / Broken pilot truck on my anniversary 4-6-0

The plastic truck cylinder holding the screw that attaches the truck to the frame has broken off on my 10th anniversary 4-6-0 (#81098). Can I replace the truck with the updated version of the pilot truck and pivot arm. Has someone out there done this and can you tell me the parts I need for the fix and if Bachmann has them.  I think Barry's trains had the replacement I need but apparently he has retired.

Large / problem with large scale anniversary 4-6-0
August 11, 2012, 01:07:44 PM
the pilot front wheels of my 4-6-0 large scale anniversary loco keep derailing due I think to the flimsiness/lack of tension of the spring that they sit on. This has become worse over the past year. Can anyone who has encountered this problem tell me the fix to address this problem. Tks very much in advance  for advice

Can someone please tell me if the drive axel with gear for the large scale 4-4-0 or axel with gear  for the large scale consolidation can be used to replace a broken center drive axel on the 2-6-0. If so would you know the part number and if not could you please tell me the part and part number needed for the 2-6-0  Have been trying to find this info on the schematic diagrams etc provided by Bachmann with no luck and havent been able to get a hold of techs at Bachmann for advice   Tks in advance for any info

Thank you very much for your suggestions. Since I know the screw shaft is logged very firmly in the center wheel I am lery about having any luck with the easy out procedure. My preference is to purchase a center wheel set and have a dealer here that I know install it. It is advantageous for me to have it done here since I live in Canada and there are the hassles of customs etc with sending to Bachmann. I have spoken with the repair team at Bachmann and there are no wheel sets for this loco available and no expectation of when they might be. They referred me to customer service for options , one of which is to send the loco to them for and "upgraded version" I have tried to get a hold of the customer service manager re this but no luck as of yet. Given your obvious experience with this loco, can any of you tell me where I can find a center wheel set besides Bachmann and do you have any idea what is meant by and "upgraded version" Tks very much in advance for your additional help on this

I carelesslt overtightened the hex nut on the left center wheel of the locomotive. The head broke off. The shaft of the nut is firmy seated in the shaft that holds the rods to the center wheel. How can I repair this. Advice much appreciated   Tks
