Post by: davidone on January 12, 2009, 05:38:15 PM
When can we expect this to be shipped? Also will you have a production sample at Springfield?

Thanks, Dave

I have secondhand reports from the Springfield show that the new DDA40X looks great! Very much looking forward to release of this model.

Now the question becomes... "Bachmann, are you ready for the avalanche of Spectrum Centennials with broken gears needing warranty swaps?"  ::)

Dear CB,
Never fear, the new loco has an all new drive as well.
Have fun!

I posted my show report here:

http://forum.atlasrr.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=51352

The DD40AX was very nice. The hood seemed just a hair wide, but not bad (about the same as Kato locos). The doors and cast on detail was much cleaner then previous Bachmann models. I would compair the quality to the HHP8 and Acela.

Compared to the old DD4AX they put out (and had on display at the show for comparison sake), the model is a total knockout. With DCC and a street price of about $70... I'm sold!
