Title: Baldwin 4-6-0 decoder needed No sound
Post by: locobill on May 08, 2019, 12:20:04 PM
I have a Baldwin 4-6-0 that currently runs DC only. What type of non-sound decoder would be easiest to install?

Any brand DCC decoder with Back EMF will do.
The standard decoders that were installed from factory in the tenwheeler were without Back EMF.

Ton, Thanks for responding. Excuse my ignorance, but what is back EMF?

When you go up hill the decoder will give more power to the motor and when you go down hill the decoder will give less power to the motor.
So you will get an even speed performance.
