Title: 4-6-0 Annie, Drive Wheels Slipping on Axel looking for Fix
Post by: jcerqui on September 23, 2011, 01:25:53 PM
Looking for way to make the Drive Wheels from slipping on the Axel when it gets warm, will not even do a small incline which it did for over a year or so. Any Ideas would be appreciated

jc...

The first thing to check is to see if the screw in the end of each drive axle (flanged driver) is tight.  Remove the plastic insert i the wheel center, by pressing the counter weight out ward.  Put a small flat screwdriver tip under the plastic insert, push across the wheel and land under the insert opposite where you started, press the tip in and then twist the insert should come out.  Then you can see the screw head into the axle, tighten it, replace the plastic wheel insert, and repeat at each flanged wheel.

If that doesn't work, tell us and we'll check the axle gear and the gears  in the open gear box.
