Williams by Bachmann / Hudson vs. Hudson

What are the main differences between Williams semi scale hudson and their 2056 hudson? The 2056 is a reproduction, and has a different tender, but are they the same besides that? The 2056 isn't referred to as semi scale, but I feel like the two are very similar- sort of like the two scale hudsons- the 773 just has a slightly shorter tender than the other if I remember correctly.

Anyway, just wanted some info, and if anyone prefers one over the other.

Thank you, Joe, I really appreciate your help!

ripley manor, I know how you feel. The hudson's are a bit more than the berks, but still better priced than any of lionels scale hudsons or mth for that matter. As I'm sure many train lovers do, I just have a special nostalgic place for the hudson. It just carries a certain classiness to it. But, the berk is another fave of mine : )

Thanks guys! Great input!

I completely agree. I've loved trains since I was a kid and have always had this preconceived notion that Lionel or MTH is the best and not to settle for less. Unfortunately, all I can ever do is look at these trains- I certainly can't afford it. For instance, I've wanted desperately to purchase a scale Hudson. Not gonna happen with Lionel and my wallet. Then WBB comes along with these beautiful, affordable, durable lines and it's like a dream come true, especially for us younger and poorer model train enthusiests  ;D

This hobby lets us come home and engineer anywhere from trains we've always wanted to see in person but never will, to what we see every day. I hate that it can be so unaffordable. Sure, go buy a mint 700e from the 50's and put it up on your all in a case- might as well scrap it like the rest of them were.

If it wasn't for Williams, I wouldn't have a chance at the locos and sets I want to start!
Sorry, kind of a rant.

I mean catalog...not catalogue. Besides ordering, can anyone give me an opinion on the Williams Berkshire performance? I'm leaning between the Berk or scale Hudson- I know they're two different locomotives, but would anyone suggest one over the other?

I thought so...unfortunately I can't find one. I guess I just order from that catalogue?

Didn't Williams make a NYC Berk? I could have sworn I saw one advertised. If anyone knows anything about it I'd be very appreciative. I suppose I could just purchase a loco and change the line name. Any comments on the Williams Berk performance? Any issues I should be aware of?

Thanks
