HO / Re: Please help the new guy!!

Hello... sorry for the late reply.   Wanted to thank you for your suggestions.  Perfect advice.  I was able to remove the track and readjust the turn radius.   I've found that canned vegetables work great during the drying time.   Thanks again!

HO / Decoder & GP-7 trouble
April 01, 2007, 11:04:21 PM
I would like to ask for suggestions on installing a DCC decoder into an Atlas Classic series locomotive.
Here's what I'm working with: Recently purchased GP-7 Item #8636.  For this model a local hobby store recommended a Digitrak DH163IP decoder.
My problem is that during re-assembly the body shell seems to be "held up" by the newly installed decoder.
It appears to be caused by the wiring of the front head lamp.   Due to the new decoder it now rests in a higher position causing the shells not to rest on the frame.
My question... What am I overlooking?  Do I have the recommended decoder?
I'm new to the hobby and not very confident with my knowledge.
I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

HO / Please help the new guy!!
February 19, 2007, 08:21:15 PM
I need help with my FIRST layout. I've finished half of my 4X8. My main line runs around the outside of the layout and I've noticed that 3 of the 4 turns are changing radius. I'm using strickly soldered flex track held in place by Foam Tack glue. (Recommended by my local Hobby Store) The track has the appearance as if it expanded and moved toward the outside of the turn, thus distorting the radius so that it has become sharper than I originally placed the track. My assumption is I hadn't used enough glue to properly secure the track. But now my dilemia is can it be corrected (?) or do I scrap what I have and simply start over. (!) Please help.

HO / Flex Track Moved!!
February 19, 2007, 06:06:54 PM
I'm working on my first layout and using flex track. Recently I noticed that on a curve the track has moved to the outside of the turn. It appears that the track has expanded and now has a "sharper-turn" area than inttended.  I know this wasn't there originally but I can't figure how to remove it either. I'm using Foam Tack Glue and flextrack completely on my layout. Any suggestions please.
