General Discussion / t.v. train show
April 09, 2008, 08:18:33 PM
Did anyone see that t.v. show called "tracks ahead"? I can't seem to find out when it comes on any more. They keep changing the time that the show comes on. I am really mad about this.

Please let me know what time and channel it comes on

Use an old DC controller, hook the turnout switches to the AC terminals.   The remote snap turnouts come with activation switches.  Easy to hook up, you can gang all the switches together in one convenient place.

I know what you are talking about. I recomend a 12 volt battery.
I can hook as amny switches as I want with out having too many switches hooked up! It's the best.

I was thinking about leaving bachmann and go to digitraxbut since I saw that new wireless DCC controller I am sticking to bachmann and buy the new DCC controller because there are more options and you can run so many more locomotives.so im going to stay with bachmann.

   I recomend DCC
I was going to buy the zypher but i wanted one of the wireless controllers.

You didn't say which model of Digitrax, the Zephyr, or one of the other models that can use IR or radio?  Options? Digitrax has about, if not the, most extensive line of DCC components on the market.
And just how many trains do you think you can control at one time?

General Discussion / controlling DCC with a computer
April 06, 2008, 05:49:12 PM
Is there a piece of hardware or software maybee even a special wire that I may need to run my DCC trains using my computer? I was hopeing that I could use my computer along with my DCC layout!

Please give any infromation that you might know about this topic.

its either your wiring is not good in the locomotive, it can only handle wide curves or your track is not clean enough. i recomend nickle silver rails.nickle silver rails are on the GRAY E-Z TRACK. NOT BLACK E-Z TRACK. i couldn't think of anything else. i also had probloems like that before because my locomotive was so old.

Nothing Really, It has a couple knobs to raise and lower the booms and one of the hooks. It swivels by itself. I suppose you could add a decoder and a few small motors such as a modified tortoise switch machine, but it would be very difficult...
so you mean it operates itself?

General Discussion / Re: What exactly do I have?
April 06, 2008, 02:30:24 PM
make sure the eletric current only goes to anything you want to power and the motor of course. those screws are probaly getting hot because they come in contact with the current, that is very dangerous.make sure they do not cause a short and remember you need a positive wire and a negative wire for everything you power. make sure you are not running to many locomotives.espcecialy with a analog layout. maybe its that your track is too dirty.
