Well I am using EZ track so cutting isn't really an option but I will have to get a lot of track to actually be able to make the double track any way so it isn't that big of a deal.

That is kind of what I want to do. I but I don't have the 3" straits but since I would have to get all of the track to do this, then I can get some while I am at it. Thanks so much!

My next question is would this work fine with EZ Track? I'm not concerned with the spacing but I measured the track to get an idea of what I was trying to do and can't wrap my head around it. I noticed that the radius is measured from the middle of the track and that the width of EZ track is 2". Would the 22" and 24" radius curves fit together perfectly or would they have to overlap to fit?

I don't know where your friend got his information, but I got to ride in the cab of Southern 630 twice on the Tennessee Valley Railroad not to long ago and I am pretty sure that I saw the Fireman shoveling coal. I don't know, maybe I am crazy and the video I have is just my imagination. :P I just don't know.  ;D

HO / Double Track
July 29, 2013, 08:06:32 AM
I am currently using 22" Radius Curves to make a large loop around my entire bedroom and would like to know what radius I would need to make it a double track loop and be able to use the crossovers that Bachmann sells. I could only find 26" radius as the next step up so I wasn't sure if that was what I would need so I figured ask because there are people out their that have done what I want to do.

I have made some videos of 630 and the 4501 progress and should have the video uploaded sometimes this week. I heard that TVRM is hoping to have 4501 running some time early next year. Along with that, they are hoping that within another 5 years, TVRM will have 630, 4501 and 610 all running. That will be a sight. I will put a link when I get it uploaded.

You need to install a full DCC decoder with sound which in your place, I would use an MRC full sound and DCC decoder because the Sounder has no DCC capabilities when it come to operating a train. If you are going to get an EZ Command, DO NOT ONLY INSTALL THE SOUNDER. You need the Motor DCC decoder in order for a DCC controller to even be worth getting.

General Discussion / Re: 6 pin DCC

I understand the slight misconception. I have a Soundtraxx 6 pin DCC decoder ordered for a locomotive that I will not get for a while now (Not in production yet and did not know). The decoder has the pins directly on the board. It has all the connections but a Common and I would like to know where I need to connect them. I can get a socket to be wired into it but I still need a Common connection. Do I just have to connect it to the Positive Side of the Frame? I read somewhere that the decoder provides a (-) Connection and the Common is (+). Am I correct?

Does anyone know how to wire a 6 pin DCC decoder without a socket. I can get a socket but what do I need to do to take care of the Positive connection for the lighting? (The decoder provides a neutral for the lights on the pins)

I live right below Chattanooga and have seen 630 during Railfest. I have also seen the restoration progress on 4501 and the progress is great! I want to see what else they have done at rail-camp this summer.

O Scale Locomotives use AC to power them, but convert it to DC in the Sequence Reverse Unit to power the motor, the motor is DC. I actually installed a Digitrax High Amp Decoder in my Lionel Polar Express and a standard Bachmann Decoder in the tender for the whistle. I works great! I actually installed two light bulbs in the front for the marker and the head lights.
