Thanks for the responses!
The decoder is a short wire Digitrax 123. It worked fine in another loco I had installed it in originally. I was hoping it would be a CV setting. I'll pull the shell and look for stray wires over the weekend.
Thanks again!

HO / DCC troubles
February 27, 2008, 08:14:44 AM
Hello!
I have an Athearn F59PHI to which I have added a Digitrax decoder. Nothing fancy, no sound. The lights work, and switch properly from forward to backward as the Locos direction changes. However, it only moves in the reverse direction. It will not go forward. Any advice?
Thanks in advance!

Right now I've got an AEM-7, an HHP-8 and the Acela in operation on my layout. All post '80.
Bachmann makes an F40 in NJ transit. My guess would be that NJT is too specific for a manufacturer to mass produce their roadname. Perhaps you should buy some equipment and have them painted(or paint yourself)?
Good luck!

Hello! I've used the Atlas plastic joiners with great success. The only trouble is removing the metal joiners on the EZ- Track. Use caution when pulling the metal ones off, if you use too much force the whole rail can slide out off the roadbed. But, they do work. Make sure you get the code 100 joiners, as that is what EZ-Track is.

When I was in O scale I was running TMCC, so it was only natural that I added DCC to my current layout. I love it!! More importantly, my wife and I can run trains together, which adds alot.
Plus adding DCC decoders is alot of fun as well. Gives you the chance to take stuff apart and(hopefully) put them back together in better shape than when you bought them.

General Discussion / Re: just curious
March 15, 2007, 08:16:04 AM
Hello!!
I live in East Hampton New York, and I work in Sag Harbor New York at an ACE hardware. I have a 36' x 24' around the basement freelanced layout(someday I'll be finished, right?). Started out in HO 28 years ago, lost interest and then in 2003 dabbled in O scale. O got very expensive very fast and I made the switch back to HO. I'm not a prototype guy, I love trains and will run anything that I like.
Great thread!!

I have the 613 from the Cavalier set and just recently relegated it to the shelf. It waddled around and required alot of energy to get it going. Does this issue afflict the 613 as well?
Looks great up on that shelf though.

HO / Proto GP shell removal help
March 04, 2007, 06:22:58 PM
I was wondering if anyone know the trick to removing the shell of a proto 2000 GP38-2 shell? The instructions weren't helpful in that area. Thanks in advance!!

They are a touch finicky, but with a few modifications they can work well. File down the switch track points, make them flush with the straight track. Make sure your table is level. I've got about 15 of them and after I did some filing they work well.

Thanks for the replies. I changed the value of CV#29, first to 7(as suggested) than to 3(as suggested). Now she just sits there, reverse light a glow. Any other thoughts? ???

HO / How to change starting direction?
February 25, 2007, 10:11:46 PM
Hello! I have a locmotive that I changed the stock light board on and replaced it with an Atlas DCC board. When ever I start the engine it runs in reverse. I switched the leads on the DCC board, but it still starts in the same direction. Is there a way to re-program the board? Thanks in advance. ???
