Wow thanks for the info guys.
These are by far the best pictures of the tender I have seen.
Yeah that's exactly what I need.  And at least now I know that it's not commercially available which leaves me with the option of kitbashing my own.
Has anyone worked with brass sheets?  Is it hard to mold into shape and solder?

Thank you for the pictures.  I will use them for kitbashing my own.

Hello guys,

I decided I want to model UP's #3985 excursion train.  It carries an additional set of water tenders and I have not seen the tender sold alone or with any other loco.  So far I got the Challenger I just need the additional tenders.  I think I read somewhere that these were built later and that's probably why I don't see them sold with any prototype locomotive.
Just today I saw a Bachmann Overland and noticed that the tender is pretty close to what I need.  I may have to kit-bash it a little but it's pretty darn close.  Do you guys agree that this would be the best tender to work with?
Has anyone ever modeled this train?
Do you know any place asides from ebay where I can get just the tenders?
By the way, the Overland looks like a cool locomotive.  Does anyone have this loco?

Here's a rough sketch of how it would look.

PRR Thomas.
You're right.  I got a girl friend who buys me trains and looks for deals online and finds out when they got trains shows or hobby events where they sale stuff and drags me to those because she knows I would like them.
Maybe she's the one who's into this hobby and is playing it off of me.

Well yeah but I didn't buy them.
My girl friend surprised me with them after she saw me drooling at them at a hobby shop.  So I guess now I gotta buy her something expensive too

I own three of them and all three run well.  Not great just well.  They're not great pullers at all but they look fantastic.  I got two of them for around $70 and my third for $100.  I'm very pleased with them.

Mine has got to be the connie.
I know there are faster and bigger locos with better stories but I just dig the way the Baldwin Consolidation looks

I bought a lot of engines last year and only 4 so far this year.

Steam

15 Bachman spectrum Connies - I really like them
03 Bachman spectrum 2-6-6-2
02 Bachman spectrum Light Mountains
02 Bachman spectrum Heavy Mountains
03 Bachman 2-6-0
02 Athearn Challenger
02 Athearn Big Boy
02 Metal Power 4-4-0
01 Metal Power Heavy Mountain

I have probably about 20 Diesels but I don't really care for Diesel at least right now and I don't even want to bother listing them.
Although the SD90 is my favorite diesel followed by the AC4400.  So I definitely got some Kato copies of them.

Consolidation.  I don't really know why I like it.  It just seems perfect.

Jay,

Yes for LED's you definitely need a resistor connected in series to limit the current otherwise your LED will burn out.

Guys there is a rule of thumb resistor for LEDS on locomotives.  Is it 600ohms?
Yes it's over kill but better safe than sorry.  If it's too dim then
You can also use ohm's law v=ir

So find the resisitor value by substracting your LED's voltage from your power supply's and dividing by the LED's maximum allowed current.

Chris,

How was the coal fed on  engine 355?

Do you have before and after shots?

I like it a lot.  The bridge is my favorite.  I'm gonna try to copy it in N scale.

Thanks for the info Fieromike.

That's good to know considering I have about 12 consolidations I need to rewire.

That looks really awesome.

Thanks for the pictures.  I don't think I can do that modification but I will give it a try.
