General Discussion / Bachmann Service Request: Cancelled
November 14, 2019, 02:24:46 AM
Hello,

I initiated a Service request for Bachmann to have my HO Loco Serviced...However, I changed my mind, and will do my own service.
Should I contact Bachmann Service Dept to let them know that I would like to cancel the Service, or just not send it in and all will be Ok ?

General Discussion / Bachmann HO 2-6-0 Upgrade
November 08, 2019, 08:21:40 PM
Hello fellow forumites,

After New Year's I'm looking for someone to transfer my HO DCC 2-6-0 Sound, and add a Smoke Unit to it.

Basically I'll ship my train out to you, you make the necessary upgrade, I'll pay you through  PayPal, then you ship the train back to me.

Let me know if anybody is interested, and we can PM each other for specifics.

Thanks, Joe

Large / Cheap Battery Train-Set
November 06, 2019, 11:54:03 AM
Hello,

I purchased a really cheap Large size Train Set from Wallyworld just to have it displayed under a X-Mas Tree.
Thou, I noticed it took 2x D Batteries, and decided what the heck and installed them (probably wont run it much at all). So, I did so, and the train moves really fast, lol.

So, the question...How can I make the train move more slowly ?

HO / Bachmann 2-6-0 w/Sound
November 29, 2017, 02:48:12 PM
Ok, I have this Bachmann 2-6-0 train (introduced couple yrs ago) w/Sound.

I want to know if I can temporarily disable the Sound by disabling the wire Harness (I haven't turned the train over to see for myself). I want to do this, because I will have X-Mas music playing, and don't want both the Music and Train Sounds at same time (prefer a silent train going around track).

HO / HO Custom Smoke Unit
November 25, 2017, 01:27:11 PM
Hello,

I have a Bachmann HO 2-6-0 w/Sound (new Bachmann engines that came out in past year), but looking for a way to add a Smoke Unit...This way I can have Sound & Smoke when train goes around track.

Now, I have no interest in trying to figure out how to Custom/Fab one up...However, I'm looking for a possible forum member to do it for me. I would send train to your location, and you would perform the Custom work for a predetermined fee.

If this interests anyone, then PM or post me the details. (I prefer to send the Train out around January 2018..after the Holidays).

Thanks, Joe

HO / E-Z Mate Couplers
July 24, 2017, 05:26:08 PM
Hello,

Ok, I purchased a New Bachman DCC 2-6-0 w/Sound (Canadian National) to run my older style X-Mas Cars (Bachman HO Heritage Collection Train Set from the 90's)..However, the    2-6-0 has the newer style E-Z Mate Couplers (magnetic), and the Cars have these older style Couplers or Horns.

So, I purchased the New Style E-Z Mate Couplers (exact same as my 2-6-0 couplers) recently, but need to know what is the procedure for replacement...Any tolerances to be aware of (removing and putting screws back on, etc). For example; I don't want to put the New Couplers Arms on to tight, etc ?

Thanks for any info.

HO / Alco 2-6-0 DCC w/Soundtraxx or Bluetooth
June 05, 2017, 04:16:42 PM
Hello,

I'm thinking of getting one or the other (DCC Soundtraxx vs Bluetooth) for my Basic DC Layout...

My DC layout is just a 3'x5' of Oval Track using Bachmann's New E-Z Tracks (Grey), but using Bachmann's older style Transformer (Black w/red Switch from the 90's) that I got from a Train Kit.

Now, some questions: If I get one or the other Train how will it work on my Basic DC Layout...What Sounds will I hear when I turn on Controller and use Forward/Reverse (just basic Chuffs & Puffs, but no Bells & Whistles)...-Or- will I need the better Bachmann DCC Controller (the one w/different functions and numbers 1-10) to accomplish all sounds (for either DCC Soundtraxx or Bluetooth).

Any additional info would be appreciated...

HO / HO Steam Loco Types
March 18, 2017, 08:20:20 PM
Hello,

Looking for a typical HO Steam Train that I can connect to my Passenger Box Cars and used in my Victorian Age setup (1870's to 1900...I have a Hawthorne Thomas Kindade Village)...I have no interest in the On30 scale.

I know about the popular early American 4-4-0 (the wide and the narrow funnel stacks) from the 1850's through the ACW that I can still use for the above...
However, what about the popular Modern Baldwin 4-4-0 or ALCO 2-6-0, and when did they come out ?..From what I gather I think these came out alittle later and around the Victorian Age up to early 1900's.

Any info would be appreciated
Thanks, Joe

N / N Scale 4-4-0 Train Oil-Lube
December 03, 2015, 08:57:09 PM
Hello,

I have a 4-4-0 Train that I purchased a couple years ago ( along with a few passenger cars ), and generally only use it from Thanksgiving through X Mas ( about an hour a day ).
I like to know when I should oil-lube the Train, how should I go about doing that, and what type I should use...Also, what about cleaning-lube of the Tracks.

Thanks, Joe

HO / HO Car Couplings
June 09, 2014, 11:41:54 AM
Hello,

I'm not an Train expert or collect them, but purchased an Bachman XMas HO Train Set last year ( along with an 6' x 3' Oval E-Z Track layout ) and generally only use it for the  Holiday's around the X-Mas tree. However, I have decided to keep it on the Dining Room table for rest of year and run it from from time to time.

I just noticed that 1 or 2 of the cars were seperating when going around the track at about the same location as it comes off the bridge and making a right turn. The 6" bridge has no trussels and I just lay the E-Z Track right on top of it and fit good. This does produce a slight rise ( about .5 inch ) curve on both sides of track simulating having trussels.
So, I was playing around with the Couplings on a couple of cars. I decided to pinch the couplings together to see if they actually close for a tighter fit, and they did close. However, I guess I made them to tight and it's hard to seperate them to connect the cars again...Sigh :-(
So, I don't know if these Couplings were meant to close in the first place     ( and maybe broke them while closing ) or molded in one position ( to small to tell ). I try to pry them open again, but it's to hard and tedious.

Thinking of buying new Couplings, but not sure if that's the problem.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

N / N Scale E-Z Track Layout
November 21, 2013, 02:19:57 AM
Hello,

I have an N Scale Bachmann Train Set ( Heritage Collection ) that contains the older style Track w/ 4x 9" Straight and 6x 9" Curved, but going to replace them all with the E-Z Tracks.

However, I want the track to go around my Christmas Tree, but in an elongated Oval shape ( pic provided ) as the existing track layout doesn't allow for this ( not enough track ). You will notice in the pic that the Track only goes half-way around before running out.
What type and quantity of each E-Z Tracks will I need ?

Any info would be appreciated.

HO / Train set-up w/Lights, Smoke & Sound
December 02, 2012, 03:14:58 AM
Hello Bachmen,
New to the forum, and Trains in general.

I have a 'Hawthorne Xmas Village ( Thomas Kinkade ), and want an Old-Fashioned HO Steam-Powered Train 4-4-0/2-6-0 ( mid 1800's-early 1900's ) Set-Up that goes around the Xmas Tree ( or around a Pool Table from Spring to Fall ). I want the HO Train to have Lights, Smoke & Sound, and maybe DCC equipped, but not sure how that works yet.

On Flee-Bay, I found some Bachmann HO 'Hawthorne Village-Holiday' Train Sets ( 4-4-0 ), but they only have headlights in the Engine or lighted Cars while others ( generally 2-6-0/2-6-2 ), have both Lights & Smoke, but no Sound.

Any other info would be appreciated on how to accomplish the above.
Thanx, Joe
