Just make sure the gaps in reverse loops are longer then the longest train you intend to run. If not you will run into trouble. I suggest getting an electronic version of the auto reverser. The ones that use a relay will burn out over time. I went through 2 before going to the electronic one.  Joe

I assume by 'gap length' you're referring to the length of the isolated section?    That shouldn't be an issue since I intend to place the insulators directly on the turnout pieces.


Are the Bachmann DCC auto reversers 'electronic' or do they use relays?

I'm building a loop to loop layout as well using DCC because reverse loop modules like the one you linked to simplify the wiring dramatically.

The module doesn't necessarily have to be wired to the start of each loop, just to the isolated sections.

You can wire a single module to both loops, or use two modules if you prefer.  Using two will not cause any problems.


Auto-reversing track has more wires than regular track (Which is why it's more expensive).  Two pieces of regular E-Z track are included in Auto Reversing track starter packs, but their purpose is to hold the train when it passes beyond the reversing sections and prevent it from hitting the bumpers.  The train will not continue moving onto a loop.

I'm making a layout with a reverse loop at each end and I would prefer not to wire the two loops together.

Will using two reversers create a conflict with each other or the controller?


(I only intend to run one train at a time on the layout.)

On30 / Directional lighting in 0-4-x Porters?

Do the DCC-equipped non-sound Porters support directional lighting when running in either analog or DCC mode?


I want to build a tender with a reverse light on it and I'd like it to operate instead of the headlight when the loco is going backwards.  Will the default decoder support this or will I need to replace it?
