General Discussion / Colored Smoke?
December 04, 2008, 01:48:25 AM
I've seen things like scented smoke. But there is one thing I haven't seen yet:

Colored smoke. Have a big coal train with brown or black smoke puffing out of a steam engine.

I'm guessing it isn't possible or it would have been out a long time ago?

Is there a way to make it?

Can you forward a request on making a Bachmann Spectrum 2-6-0 M6. Or something like that looks like this:

General Discussion / Gypsy 0-4-0 Engine for Bachmann
September 06, 2008, 02:57:23 AM
Have you guys thought about making a 0-4-0 Gypsy steam engine for either HO or G scale at a more reasonable price unlike the current all brass G scale model?

August 14, 2008, 02:04:02 AM
Mr. Bachmann:

What happen to the HO Climax? Why hasn't it been re-released?

HO / A 2-10-4 eh? Interesting... Or what about 4-10-2?
August 07, 2008, 04:33:57 AM
I remember a long time ago trying to get Bachmann to release such larger engines as a 2-10-4, but everyone back then complained that it wouldn't be able to take curves for a "typical layout".

What made Bachmann change their mind?  If you guys can build this, does this mean a Southern Pacific 4-10-2 is *actually* a possibility now?

*See pictures bottom of thread.*

HO / Question about adding sound
July 01, 2008, 05:57:35 AM
I'm wondering if there's a way to change out the sound in my Broadway Limited Cab Forward for a Tsunami Sound Decoder? I opened up the tender, and unplugged the wire-plugs out of the board. From what it looks like, there doesn't seem to be a way to add another sound system in there. What I would want to do is get a NMRA 8-pin connector, and solder the sound decoder to that, but there doesn't seem to be anyway to do that. From what it looks like, QSI uses a different way to add their chips. Mine looks similar to this:  http://www.tonystrains.com/technews/img/qsi/q-upgradechip-r2-4.jpg

Do you know of any way I can do this?

Large / Garden Railroad Track Issue. Need Help.
June 15, 2008, 09:25:48 PM
I've run into a little bit of a problem with our Garden Railroad. About half way on my Garden Railroad, it doesn't seem to be getting any power. Me and my friend looked at the track, and didn't notice any problems. The jointers seem connected fine, but they must be causing the problem. The engine will get to a certain point and just stop dead. We checked it with a volt meter and sure enough, one side of the jointers is normal power, and the other side is almost nothing.

We tried doing squirting some conductive lube on the jointers, but that didn't do anything. Is it possible that corrosion can get to the jointers after a while? It would be near to impossible to replace the jointers now. The track is firmly in the ground. Replacing the jointers now would probably rip up the track a little due to the pressure of having a complete loop.

Do you have any suggestions on what would be causing this or how to fix this?

HO / A few other questions
June 09, 2008, 04:48:14 PM
I have a few other questions that I forgot to ask on my last post:

Will Bachmann be doing another run of the HO scale Climax? I really want to get one, but nobody sells them anymore.

Also, have you guys considered producing a little 36 ton Two Truck Heisler? Right now, you can only get the Rivarossi ones on Ebay. No other company makes them, unless you want to go brass......which I can't afford.

I have a Bachmann Spectrum 4-8-2 Mountain Class that I've been needing to fix for a long time now. One of the little wires on the orange plug connecting the engine to the tender came off. From what I understand, the only way to get this fixed is to send the engine in for repair?

It hasn't been under warrenty for a couple years now. I've been very lazy to get it repaired. How much will it cost for Bachmann to repair this?

I'm also guessing I should send it in with a letter and all?

HO / Ordering Bachmann European Engines?
May 16, 2008, 03:45:21 PM
Is it possible to order Bachmann European engines across seas? I want a Class 37, but I don't know of anywhere else to buy a British engine in the US.

Help anyone?

Also, is there any left in existence in real life?

Large / K-27 Question
November 07, 2007, 03:41:21 PM
Is the K-27 going to be a new product for G scale? Or is it a kit bash someone made? I was a little confused on the Photo Gallery.

Large / Heisler Sqeak Question
November 05, 2007, 02:55:11 PM
After lubing my Heisler internally and externally....it still makes a high-pitched "squeak" sound. Do you know what would cause something like this? It runs smoothly. Its just annoying.

Also, what does the NMRA switch do? Its right above the smoke switch.

General Discussion / Lube Question
November 04, 2007, 04:50:45 PM
Will Atlas Conducta Lube work the same way as Bachmann Contuductive Lube?

Large / Heisler Question
November 02, 2007, 03:25:53 PM
I went to a store today and had them test a G scale Heisler. But I noticed that the main piston from the cylinders under the engine knocks at a certain point in the spin.

Is that normal?

Also, I wanted to share this picture with everybody. I thought it was cute lol:

HO / #2472

Hi Mr. Bachmann. I am wondering if there is any plans for making a Southern Pacific P-8, 4-6-2 like #2472:
