I have a bachmann electric train set HO scale, everything here, working and the box, does this have any value before I drop it off to the amity?

Not really. Older train sets lack the detail and operating characteristics of modern trains and they were made in large numbers so they have neither an anxious population of buyers driving demand nor a rarity factor. Yes, some (very, very few) older trains are worth a good deal of money but they are either from the earliest days of model railroading (pre-1920) or extremely rare items in new condition in perfect boxes. The thing is, model trains are so much fun that few were ever stored.

Your older train set, however, could very well delight a youngster today. Give it to a kid you know or an agency which will get it
to a kid.
