Thomas & Friends / "Bill's Eyes"
November 02, 2010, 07:40:48 AM
My new Bachmann Bill and Ben arrived this morning. I love them!

However, the eyes of Bill are not at all symmetrical, which leaves him with the look of being crossed eyed, or having a lazy 'boss' eye, when he looks to the left. This doesn't make me happy :(

Is there anything I can do about this..? The model is manufactured correctly and runs as it is supposed to, so the seller is not liable. Besides I have removed Bill from the packaging and I'm in the UK so posting back and forth is not ideal.

I'm not sure about Donald and Douglas. I'm pretty sure the requests for Duck will sway HiT's decision and her will be produced, but ultimately the mass market is young children - not purists on a message board. So I think it's likely that characters which younger fans identify with, for example Rosie in particular, have a stronger chance. I also think Hiro has a very strong chance. HiT have put a lot of money into that character. He launched CGI and has a model made by most other manufacturers.

I think the breakdown train is unlikely as it hasn't been seen since the arrival of Rocky, and for the same reasons as above.

I'd just like to add that I love Emily, Mavis, Edward, Spencer and Toby!

So as it doesn't seem I'm a total gripe!

I'm glad somebody highlighted the issues with Thomas, Percy & James.

I can live with minor disimilarities in regards to paintwork and detailing, however, what the major problem is with the models (and it goes for Gordon and Henry too I might add) is that the scale is all wrong. And I've been saying this for the last 3 years.

Find an episode in which James is standing next to Gordon or Henry. He is considerably smaller than them. Stand the Bachmann models together and James is taller!

Find an episode of Edward standing next to Gordon or Henry. Edward is considerably smaller. Stand the Bachmann models together, Gordon and Henry are more or less the same size as Edward. I'd like to point out that my gripe isn't Edward here as I believe he is correct scale (In case one reads it that way)

Spencer towers over Gordon and Henry!

In the TV series, it actually SAYS and shows that Edward and James are the same size... need I say more.

Percy is also too large. And the face is not of the same quality of the latest releases.

Thomas I can live with... it's just the face really. And I suppose Gordon and Henry are good models too but they are too small.

I'd also like to agree with an earlier post about the quality of the Tomix models. Perfect scale and commendable detail in regards to the compact size of the models.

I don't understand HIT really. Why they weren't happy with Emily's face during production, but okay with other's. Or why they have authorised AT ALL the Hornby range. Seems a little bit odd. I want Bachmann James redone if I was head honcho!

I doubt it's financially viable for Bachmann to redo the models but it would be in my fantasy wishlist over a new engine any day.

Hey Chaz and co!

My two cents: it's been a while:

Emily looks FANTASTIC, cannot wait to buy her.

However, she's not worth the delay, and excuse after excuse can be made, but all that has been needed throughout this entire shambles is an apology.

bachmann should think about delaying their announcements instead, or risk poor service and narked off customers.

However, hyporitically or not, i will be puchasing the item as she really is fab.

the laws of phsyics means that you shouldn't have to use more than one power clip, other than if you need to power a siding that the current won't ever flow in.

Even though it is certainly possible to run all your trains at once, they will run slower than if use on their own and also because of each locos different sized motor, wheels and different speeds, they will probably end up crashing into each other.

Buy more track and have more than one circuit!

no the bars are flat, so don't worry. he won't be as strong as gordon henry and spencer, but he'll be able to more than thomas and percy.
but if you are unsure and haven't dismantled a loco before, get someone who knows top help you.if you don't own a horby four wheeled coach you need to find something short and flat enough. your hobby shop might find something even more suitable than what i did and even better sort it out for you. but for personally it's worked for me.

hello there, the james issue has been a common problem for the thomas fans. i personally put some mass in him using metal bars from my unwanted hornby annie and clarabel. just lift of their bodies from their chassiss and pop them in james.
