I have the bachmann Jupiter an its missing the drive shaft. I might buy one , but how do you install it?
Is it the drive shaft with the hexagonal ends or with the ball joint?
If the nubs on the tender or in the engine are hexagonal, it is the former. If there is a piece with slots, it is the latter. If it is the former, break a leg on that one. If it is the latest version, you will have a pretty good locomotive.
Cameron,
As Brokemoto alluded to, if the "nubs" on the tender and engine are hexagonal, that's the earlier generation of the locomotive, if the "nubs" are slotted, that's the recent generation, and that drive shaft is listed for sale under the Parts, Service and Information section of this website. I have 9 of the earlier generation and finding the hex drive shaft is very difficult. There is a thread on this page called "PARTS BOX" that addresses solutions to the hex drive shaft.
