HO / Bachmann suburban double Decker's
February 04, 2010, 06:18:20 AM
Hi guys
Can any one tell me.
Which of the cars is the driving trailer.
One has no picture the other the on line picture is too small for me to tell which is which.
This seems a good way to get a decent passenger capacity passenger train in a small space.
Naturally I would like the driving trailer first.

hi all
Today I received a Busch HO small animal set I only wanted the birds.
But find in the set butterfly's, mice/rats and fish and other small and tiny things in the pack as well.
I now wonder is it worth going down to that level of tiny detail to use the smaller creatures IE smaller than a rabbit.
There would be a level of satisfaction knowing they where there but they are probably near on imposable to see.

Hi all
Have been looking for western figures on the net in HO scale
with no success.
Particularly for a Mexican having a snooze with the big hat over his face
and a passed out drunk these must be wild west style figures.
That is the proposed entire population of Helengon except maybe a sheriff,
provided it is a static pose figure.
Helengon is to be a one horse town that even the horse would have left
if it wasn't tied to the hitching rail.
I have not been able to find any western buildings other than the Woodland scenics ones anybody know of any.
also are wooden skewers OK for the timber roof beams on a HO adobe house.
Any one ever made wooden tomb stones?? if so what did you use

Hi Bach man
Had a quick look at the Sodor layout in the photo gallery.
How did you get the sand stone texture on the scenery and dinosaur bones in the quarry??.
Looking at the layout through adult eyes I have a few problems with it
But I really think the look on the children's faces is what its all about and makes it worth the big effort that went into it.
How big is the layout it doesn't look very big in the pictures or is this a visual trick played by the height of the layout??

General Discussion / Costume Store Figures & Building
August 10, 2009, 07:40:22 AM
Hi guys
I have a grim reaper left over from an HO figure set after using the scare crow, mermaid and angle statue on my main layout.
It has been suggested that the grim reaper is used in a costume hire shop.
First what other figures are available that could go in an HO shop display
one haloween figure just will not do US 1812 infantry man? Continental soldier ?? Father Christmas the Hog father??
What would be a good US outline building to use as a basis for the shop
possable multi use would be good will not have room for a big metropolis
Want to have a go at interior detailing so a kit is best I think.
Any thoughts.

General Discussion / HO Wild West Cactus
August 08, 2009, 07:59:10 AM
Hi all
Any body know of a manufacturer of HO cacti .
Particularly the ever recognisable western movie variety.
Failing that an article from the model press on how to make them.
If the Devil's Gulch and Helengon RR ever gets built it will need a fair few I would guess.
Don't blame me for the name its on the wagon kits
What shade of red should I paint Helengon  ;D and is Clint Eastwood available in HO (sorry could not resist last bit)
Don't know why I am thinking of Cacti, when I haven't any idea what steam loco should be used to haul the five wagon train.

General Discussion / Test wagon required
August 01, 2009, 11:26:15 PM
Hi all
Can any one tell me the largest single item of US freight rolling stock manufactured.
NOT including double stack containers or articulated wagons.
This is needed to either make a crude test car or purchase the wagon
as a clearance set up and test car.
I will never run that size of wagon on my railway, but you never know what may happen when your railway friend brings that new train he just bought
to a running session.
I don't particularly want to be extracting stock that has jambed somewhere or replacing telegraph poles

HO / Silver comet set new couplings but which one
July 22, 2009, 03:31:54 AM
Hi
I have the Silver Comet set and want to put ez mate couplings on it
but which is the right one for the job.
Or do I have to do a complete truck change
Also loco is just about worn out through fair wear and tear, I don't think the set engine is worth repairing
Any suggestions for a decent analog replacement loco
