Title: Connecting of Bachmann HO turnouts - how?
Post by: alex3331 on May 13, 2013, 10:11:02 AM
Hello,
can anybody advise what kind of connectors should I get to connect to 3-wire plugs (green wires) to the turnout solenoid control system? These have flat slots with ~0.2" pitch.
I hate to cut off the plugs and rewire, but I do not see anything useful for this purpose.
Thanks

From what I have seen, the turnouts work with an associated slide switch.
Below is a You Tube video. Just hit the stop button and do a Screen Shot to save a picture to your PC.

There are all kinds of Bachmann videos as well as other brands of trains on You Tube. Many videos are not very good, wobbly, but you can stop the action and go frame by frame. You do not have to be a PC guru. Just like driving a car. Learn to use the power of your PC. This is the digital age.

If you are needing to lengthen the wires, I cut the plug and use snap plugs and receptacles as shown in my link.

Or you could use barrier strips also.

Alex-

It's easy to splice in extensions so you don't have to buy expensive ones. Just cut the existing
wire (stagger the cuts for a more professional looking job, solder the wires together and insulate
it all with heat shrink tubing. I put individual heat shrink on both wires and them a larger piece
over the whole thing.
