Title: Big Hailer Annie vs 2-6 Spectrum Mogul
Post by: lrparks on November 19, 2008, 09:14:32 PM
Debating whether to get a Big Hailer Annie, 2-6 Spectrum Mogul, or 4-4 Spectrum American. I like the looks of all three, but was going with the Big Hauler for the price. I found a 2-6 Spectrum Mogul (BAC 81491) and 4-4 Spectrum American (BAC 81396) for $239 at St. Aubins. Is this right? This seems strange since they list at $850-$900. Right or wrong how much better of a loco are the 2-6 or 4-4 than the Annie? Also, I plan on converting what ever I get to battery. I know the Annie will be relatively easy to convert, but how about the others? Thanks.

Those are all great locos, tough choice. The St Aubins prices are the lowest around except possibly for Trainworld.  Robby at RLD Hobbies usually matches those prices.

I have only tried a battery conversion.  You don't even have to disassemble the loco to do it, but you must use the annie with a lighted tender.  Takes about 30 minutes, using Li-ion batteries.  everything fits in the tender including aftermarket sound if you want.

Maybe someone else will chime in on the other two.  It can't be to tough tho!!

Good luck.
