Title: Sound for Bachmann Spectrum 4-4-0
Post by: wsl3cpa on June 25, 2013, 12:20:01 PM
I have a Bachmann Spectrum Maryland & Pennsylvania 4-4-0 #4 which is DCC equipped. I also have a Bachmann Spectrum Maryland & Pennsylvania 4-4-0 #6 which is DCC and sound equipped.  I love the sound on the #6 and would like to add sound to the #4.  I have looked inside the tenders of both engines (which on the outside appear to be identical except for the numbers) and saw what appears to be a plug-n-play sound module and speaker in the #6.  My question is simple, does Bachmann sell the plug-n-play sound unit and speaker (light steam) separately?  If so, what are the part numbers and how do I order?  If not, can anyone recommend where I could obtain a plug-n-play sound unit and speaker?

If you look in the Parts page, Bachmann only sells three Sound Modules, not sound decoders and only for specific locos.

Below is a link to the SoundTraxx site for Bachmann locos. I have done the 4-4-0 with the recommend decoder and speaker. It was Not plug and play.

There is a cheaper brand but I am not at liberty to say which. It has less features and not quite a good as the Tsunami. I doubt it would be plug and play with such a small tender.

Glad to help.
Take a good look at the below link. Pay particular attention to Curriculum. It will not answer all questions but he gives a lot of info about DCC and DCC with sound, particularly, SoundTraxx. Store the link in Favorites.
