I just got a HO Climax for my birthday. I was surprised as a dear in headlights! I probably LOOKED like a dear in headlights! It sounds great and runs great...I'm happy!

I'm sort of bragging, aren't I.

OK, the first 2 posts have Bob Dylan's "The Times Are A-Changin'" running through my head.

I think modeling can go either way. It could slowly fade away, or kids could start to enjoy using a controller that does something in real life. I think if companies advertise: "It's a real life video game!" the business will boom.

Hopefully, not literally, with kids thinking there's guns & rockets involved...

Don - a computer is a tool - like an automobile or table saw. It cannot think, express ideas or compose sentences with grammatically correct syntax.

In other words: computers make quick, accurate mistakes.

Cool.

The sign by our layout is either going to be:
"SC&NY Notice: Mind the gap. If you fall in, we're not saving you."

"Seatle, Chicago, & New York Railroad: Transcontinental Service for your pointless transcontinental business meetings."

"SC&NY: Moving Forward...and backward if you miss your station!"

"Seatle, Chicago, & New York Railroad: The Magical Mystery Tours."

and, on a serious note:

HO / Re: MTH HO Triplex

It is not an accurate representation of either a VGN or N&W locomotive, so why would I want one.  The VGN did have one Triplex, bigger than the Erie's and not the one MTH letters VGN,  for a short while before they sent it back and had it FIXED into a 2-8-8-0 and a 2-8-2..

VGN had a 2-8-8-8-4.

Built in 1916.

I'm looking to get a Triplex. I'm both a modeler and a collector and there's nothing wrong with that! ;D

I don't understand why everyone "strongly dislikes" M.T.H.'s locomotives. They run to near perfection. They smoke like there's no tommorrow, they run smooth, the sound is incredible...I don't get it!

Sure, their first runs have some flaws, but *newsflash* so does everyone else. If you want a "good one" wait for the second run, or the third, if it suits you.

I myself am waiting for the 2nd & 3rd run of the Triplexes before I get one, just in case. I heard there were some minor flaws with it, so I'll be patient, just like I'm being patient for Rapido's Turbotrain, which I know will be a GREAT model for sure.

P.S. I got a Bachmann Climax for my Birthday...I still can't figure out where my parents found it!

Has anyone bought one of the new HO scale MTH Triplex?  If so, how is it? How many cars could it pull?

It's not out yet...but I'll get one the minute it is!

Dear All,
MTH had one running at the WGH show, and it looked great to me!
Have fun!

For accuracy - how long can it steam?  :D
Gene

My MTH K4 came with instructions that said put (believe it) 15-20 drops of fluid in...it goes about 2-maybe 4 weeks.

I think those numbers may be understated! I GOT A MONTH OR 2 OUT OF IT MANY TIMES!!!
