General Discussion / Powering Accessories
February 08, 2014, 09:12:40 PM
Hello Everyone

I am seeking a little assistance in relation to power supply to my turnouts and some additional street and building lights which are bulb type. I plan to run a 12volt accessory bus under the layout.  I have tried to search the message boards and whilst very informative i could not find a direct answer to my question. I am sure i am not the first to ask these questions and i am sure that i will not be the last.

I have read on some threads that Bachman turnouts can be powered by ac or dc power.  However the packaging on my #6 turnout - left says " DO NOT CONNECT TO DC TERMINAL, AS THIS WILL OVERLOAD YOUR ACCESSORY ITEM.

Which is correct?

In addition how much power do the turnouts require?  Is it possible that the street lights will dim when i activate turnouts?  I was planning on purchasing a 12 volt ac transformer 1-2 amp.

Sorry if i am retreading old ground - any advice would be greatly appreciated.

General Discussion / Bachman turnouts
February 15, 2013, 08:03:31 PM
I have finished the planning stage of my new layout and i am intending to build the layout with E-Z track. In my research i have seen alot of criticism  or negative comments of Bachman turnouts.  Is this criticism justified? What have been your experiences. Some of the comments have been that they require alot of tweeking to avoid derailing. Would appreciate any comments as i am about to outlay a considerable sum of money on new E-Z track.

Thanks

HO / HO scale bridges
February 13, 2013, 04:30:28 PM
I am currently planning my first HO scale layout which will include 2 small bridges (max 6 inches)  over a winding creek.  This layout will be built using Bachman ez track.  I have been searching bridges online and am now a bit confused as to which bridges are suitable for ez track.  It would appear that some bridge already have the track built into them? I assumed that i would be able to purchase some sort of generic bridge and lay the ez track over the top?  Any comments or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
