I found no broken or cracked gears however one wheelset had a short
I'm wondering if the insulator in the center of the wheel fell out and caused the wheel to be out of round   ???

It Worked
swapping the front truck with the one i bought on ebay stopped the thumping noise

i wrote to the parts dept but have not gotten a reply  :-[

i bought it on ebay and ran it once 2 years ago all i remember was that it had gear noise
i put it on the shelf for two years and just did the install

i just bought a second one on ebay for 35$ and will run it and if it has no thump i plan to swap front trucks

just wish i could buy the replacement truck only

Well sounds like you got a real mystery on your hands.

Yes i do
The only other thing i can think of is the drive shaft is causing the
thumping

Ok...go to this link.    http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/157193.aspx.       and check posts #6 and 7.....maybe this loose clip thingy is your problem if the gears aren't cracked

Thanks for the link but the clip is not the problem
it actually makes a thumping noise like it has a flat wheel
i'm wondering if the whole housing may be warped since i can find no cracked gears

yeah but you can get the gears for $10. or the gears on the axles for $25

Yes but the whole front truck assembly is listed here for

Fr. Power Truck (New-Doodle Bug)(HO Scale) $12.00

and after taking it apart i found no cracked gears so i'm wondering if its
the housing its self causing the thumping noise

I was hoping one of the staff would answer the question of when that part would be available

can't you just change the gear? or axle?

Gears and axels are not sold seperately
Sadly :'(
I didn't find any in the parts list   >:(

Does any one know when the front power truck will be available for purchase ase a replacement part
