HO / Modifying 2-6-2 tender to add additional pickups
February 04, 2016, 03:12:06 PM
I would like to enhance the performance of my 2-6-2 Prairie (DC) by adding electrical pickups to the tender.

Can anyone suggest how I can do this?

Thanks,

Jim

HO / Spectrum HO 0-6-0 Saddle tank loco
March 31, 2014, 12:09:46 PM
So, as I was testing out a new track plan on the floor, our little puppy, who up till now, was scared of the trains, decided to do a track inspection. Things were going good for the crew until, yep you guessed it, her tags shorted out the track and the loco started smokin'! A distinct smell of ozone filled the air and, of course, the little engine runs no more.

Suggestions?

I have a small layout, measuring 42" x 62" with 15" radius curves and would like a good-running, small DC HO steamer. At present, I use GP7s as my power. The theme of the layout is Southern, logging-related, 40' cars, etc. I have read many posts on this website and am not sure which steamer is the best. I was looking at the 2-6-2, but found many negative comments. (Not sure if the tender pick-up modifications make this a better model, or not.) I like the looks of the 2-6-0, 2-8-0, , 0-6-0 Porter or Saddle Tank, and 0-6-0 USRA.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jim

N / Bachmann 2-6-2 pickup issues and new tender
September 12, 2012, 12:31:34 PM
I have had pickup issues with my 2-6-2, moving over a Kato unitrack 15 deg. crossing. After reading many posts both here and at another forum, I decided to order a short tender with all-wheel pickup. Is this plug n' play? or do I have to modify the drawbar to ensure that both tender trucks are feeding power to the motor?

Thanks,

Jim

N / N Scale 4-8-4 Front Trucks keep derailing
January 26, 2012, 12:10:47 PM
I have a Bachmann 4-8-4 running on Kato Unitrack R381-30 degrees curved track and the front Pilot Truck wheels keep derailing. I have not modified the truck, in other words, I have not changed out the wheels or anything else. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jim

N / EZ Track Wiring - Adding extra power drops
June 23, 2010, 07:19:17 AM
I'm trying to stick with Bachmann EZ Track wiring and power supplies. How do I add extra power drops, given the connectors that EZ Track uses, and using the standard Bachmann power supply?
