General Discussion / When to add a booster
September 18, 2010, 07:54:39 PM
HI Guys
I have a MRC Prodigy Avanced2. At what point should I consider putting a booster on my layout. The Layout is a shelf layout that is in my son's room I couldn't give you a real measurement of the layout cause it has differnent size areas. My locos sputter in some area. So I'm wondering the best way to messuer the out put of the track and what should be coming out

thanks for the help

John

General Discussion / Re: making a conversion coupler

LM
I was in the same boat as you with a question regarding couplers. I one person tell me to use string and a paper clip to keep the couplers together  LOL. But in the end I found out that there really is no conversion for those types of coupler. My only suggetion is to do some serious reseach online and you might find an answer.
Sorry I wan't much help, good luck in your project

Best Regards
John

Make a hook out of a piece of paperclip and attach it to the track cleaner car, then get some miniature chain or some string and use that to couple the track-cleaner car to one of the bufferbeam hooks. Or get some more of the hook-and-loop couplers and attach them to the car's bogies (aka trucks). Or the ends, but it doesn't work quite as well.

but i won't have to worry about trying to mickey mouse the couplers together, either that i would have to have a non thomas enging on my son's layout to clean the tracks

I would agree that The MRC Prodigy Advance is your best be. I have the Advanced2. if you need more power you could always add a booster to it

ok another question for the Bachmann, "is the turntable flush mount or does is need a hole so in can be mounted to the bench work of a layout?"
