HO / Confusion with layout buildings . . . .
April 30, 2015, 09:50:12 AM
We have had mixed success ordering layout buildings from modeltrainstuff.   Some are described as "snap together," others as "built up."  One item we received was a billboard kit.  However, the kit was all laser-cut wood pieces, requiring painting of tiny letters to complete the sign.  No stick-ons or decals.  No way we could keep the sign clean looking with painting that small.

Another kit we purchased was the "yard restaurant."  Many, many small parts of wood.  Almost too difficult for us.  I am sure it would look great if we had the skill to build it correctly.

We do okay with the Walther kits we have ordered, and the Bachmann kits are fairly simple.  It is very difficult to tell from the write-up on the Internet how difficult the kit will be.

Has anyone else had this dilemma?

HO / Power Supply for Accessories
April 22, 2015, 12:02:37 PM
We see that the speed controller for Bachmann sets will only accommodate one powered accessory.  For additional accessories, a customer should get a separate power supply.  Bachmann does not appear to make them.

Could anyone suggest such a separate power supply that would work with a simple Bachmann dcc set?  Not too expensive, please.

General Discussion / Connecting up a switch
April 19, 2015, 12:33:36 PM
I got a Bachmann switch for my HO guage Bachmann set.  There's a wire with two little copper horseshoe-shaped connectors.  They tell you to plug these into the "accessory" ports on your Bachmann speed control.  However, the ports on the speed control are designed for a small round wire, and these horseshoe connectors will not fit.  Can anyone tell me what to do?
